Food is awful, long waits, staff rude. Bitters always off and lager tastes awful. What's worse the owner doesn't care especially since he has put it up for sale.

Really bad all round, food not at all good and service even worse, no manager to be seen when we tried to highlight our concerns with food and service and the girl on duty who supposedly was the most senior member of staff available was rude and uninterested. Used to be an excellent place to eat and we have been many times before but It seems that something has changed recently. Avoid this place until decent management or owners take over.

The coke tastes shite (every time) but the foods okay and garden/play area is brilliant

Good family destination pub with extensive wooden playground. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean restrooms and good baby change facilities. Bouncy castle was up and a bit uncontrolled but at parents risk.foid was good quantity although chips were underwhelming and slightly undercooked. no easy vegetarian option though the team will help make up an appropriate platter.

The carvery is nice and well worth the money. The playground is mainly the reason we go there. It's big and the kids love it!

Friendly staff and a warm feel to the pub, lovely open fires. We did wonder why the car park was so empty at lunchtime and think we may have found the reason why.....The food was massively disappointing. My family had jacket potatoes, which were steaming hot but had obviously been cooked long before due to the texture and the topping looked dry as if it had been under a heat lamp for a while.Nevertheless they were eaten without too much complaining.I ordered a sausage and red onion chutney baguette, this was a huge let down. The whole baguette was stone cold, including the sausages, which had never seen an oven or grill as they were just grey/pink in colour with not even the slightest hint of browning.I ended up feeding them to the dog and eating the extra portion of chips (unfortunately the vinegar was watered down and didn’t taste of much either).I would return to this pub for a drink but would not eat there again.

Great family pub with garden and large play area with bouncy castle. Large car park. Good selection of beers and largers, basic pub menu and excellent value for money.

We went to the Malthouse on May day bank holiday Monday,. Perhaps that was the mistake they didn't have enough staff for how busy it was to become. We went a couple of weeks ago to check it out after it had changed hands because we heard it was a good place for families. The new play equipment outside is excellent for our 2 boys. New wooden climbing frame with slides, and so we decided to go for lunch with my parents so the boys good play before and after lunch. We got there at 12 and the car park was empty. When we went in to eat it was starting to get a lot busier. I already saw one meal being returned because the order was wrong. It took us 10 minutes to get served for food at the bar, and over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. When it did arrive it was mediocre. My wife's chicken was not hot as had obviously been left standing.Fortunately our 2 boys were very patient and said next time can we just go to the park without the pub!
