Snug real ale pub in a thatched 17th-century building with a brick fireplace and wood ceiling beams.

Met up here with ex work colleagues for a catch-up and lunch. We had a nice table by the window and the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. There is a nice garden too but the wrong time of year to sit outside! Would definitely visit again if in Romsey.

The food was amazing, we will definitely come back here. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pub has a lovely relaxed homely atmosphere. The menu is varied and the portion sizes are generous.

This used to be my regular pub when I lived in Romsey and used to have a great atmosphere, locals and full of friends and was just great. I came back to Romsey for an evening and popped in. It was lifeless, had no soul. Just being used as a restaurant. No interaction by any staff and last orders called at 10:30 on a Saturday night because basically it was empty. Such a shame.

We visited the old house at home the first time for a very long time with my son, I wanted to show my son the pub I used when I was younger, we were approached by the manager asking if he could help, we explained we just wanted a drink, but he said his tables were fully booked, but we could stand by the bar for a drink, we explained that we were once regular customers (every night) but the manager was not interested, and did not even pass the time of day with us or show any interest in the customer, at one point he absolutely blanked a conversation and turned away mid sentence!! The pub has no character, the bar manager was totally arrogant and ignorant. The bar manager is not interested in his customers, I would not recommend this pub.

Very expensive lunch menu, 4 people with drinks £140.00.Lunch menu is boring, with a small portion of lamb shank shepherds pie , with 3 strands of brocoli, dessert portions, and quality also poor.Shame it could be a good venue, but kitchen needs a shake upVery dissapointed.

Very nice looking pub and friendly staff but the fish fingers I were given were inedible. They looked lovely, with crispy batter. I received 4 fish fingers and a handful of French fries for £8.75 Each of the fish fingers were full of large bones.. the fish was obviously cut from the sides of a fillet .. Its put me off going again. It would have been terrible if they had been given to a child. I'm very lucky I didnt choke on them.

Went on a Saturday for lunch, service was very slow for how quiet it was and my burger when it did arrive was slightly over cooked. No complains from the person I was having lunch with about their meal though. In their defence they did have a sign up in the window advertising for a load of jobs so I'm surprised.

Always a total delight to be hosted by The Old House. My go-to public house in Romsey.I had a couple of visits recently - solo, and also a group meeting one evening in the garden. Welcomed and accommodated nicely on any occasion. The choice of real ales is always extensive, and some amazing guest ales that are so popular they don’t hang around long!Service is always second to none; thank you!
