On the expensive side, but good friendly service, and nice wine. Dog friendly

A delicious Sunday lunch. We were given a table in a quiet, cosy and warm dining area which was perfect for us. We all chose the fish and chips and were not disappointed. The batter was light and crispy and the chunky chips were sensational, golden and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu choice was excellent with starters, main and desserts or traditional roast dinners with a vegetarian selections. An excellent drinks menu. No parking available at the hotel but there are several carparks within a short walk.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, very friendly staff and excellent food. We stayed in the Penthouse room which was amazing. No complaints at all, will definitely return.

They messed up a booking for a very important private event and when we turned up couldn’t really care less, saying we just do what we are told. Refuses to accommodate our group lunch as it had been booked and declined any form of goodwill gesture. Terrible attitude and appalling service when we finally got seated in the public area, with an hour long wait for a starter. Don’t trust these people with any private event or family dining experience, it means nothing to them and they will ruin it for you. Lack of management or leadership means no one cares here. Avoid.

Fantastic hotel in a pretty historic market town. Stayed whilst needing to take our dog for tests at Anderson Moores vets. Rather than leave pup at vets over night we took her with us to this hotel and then back early the next morning...so an unexpected last minute stay. Staff very welcoming and each and every one of them friendly. Food was high end and one of the best meals out we have had in a long time. Lovely room and comfy bed. Will definitely be back. Thankyou.

Everything was perfect, the staff couldn't do more for you. The food was delicious the breakfast was the best I've had. I have stayed in quite a few places and this was one of the best. Rebooked another break. Can't wait

Stayed for 1 night in a double room. It was OK. Great location. Great breakfast. Not great value for money in my opinion for the room though. The room was small, with a very small double bed, no water or a glass for tap water, no parking, no lift. Lovely building and nicely furnished etc but I don't feel the room with breakfast was worth nearly £150.

Very friendly and helpful service along with excellent food. All the staff were great as we celebrated a birthday with friends for the first time since lockdown. Great menu at very reasonable prices. Would recommend.

We only sampled the restaurant but from that we have already thought it would be a really nice place for my mum and my wife's nan to visit and stay for a short break sometime. The food was delicious and fresh, although I dropped. To 4 stars because the website is not updated so we went expecting a full menu choice and found they had a very small set menu with two extra mains as "specials" which although the quality was very good hopefully they will update their website to manage customer expectations. Cocktails were also delicious, and a good variety and waitresses were all very good and friendly not leaving us waiting too long to take away plates and offer extra drinks etc. Overall a great experience only let down by the online information being put of date.
