Ballards Bar at the Royal Albion Hotel in Thanet

Enthralling bay front location. Excellent breakfast menu with delicious local kippers. Helpful cheery staff.This is a 3 star hotel so don't expect more. It creaks all over with very little if any sound insulation up and down. Room 19 had a good power shower as well as a miniature lavatory pan with a lid that did not stay up. Visit and spot the 'builders mistakes' LOL, must have been a good friend of the Management.No parking outside as there are 2 disabled parking bays and a bus stop. The Albion Street car park is about 100 meters away and very reasonably priced. Worth a visit just for the views.

The room was lovely. The front desk staff on Friday night was helpful, friendly, and gracious. The wait staff in the restaurant, over breakfast, was equally lovely. The Saturday morning front desk staff rude, unhelpful and pushy. If you want an easy, quiet, get away at an exceedingly reasonable price, this is a great place. It is not luxury but if you are in Broadstairs then you shouldn't be expecting it.

Inattentive staff. 15 minutes before we found our own menus..."sorry only two staff on" when ask whether it was meant to be self service. Expecting further delays ordered a humus starter to keep us going...terrible mistake any Mediterranean person would have spat it out on first taste. Petta bread cold and stiff. Starter arrived before drinks.No hygiene for table clean up before new customer.Egg and ham main...eggs already cold on service. Meat pie needs a hammer and chisel to get through the crust..filling sparse but tasty. Cappuccino fine but had to ask for sugar or sweeteners. Sadly noisy dogs allowed in restaurant. No convenient parking outside unless you have blue badge. Toilets acceptably clean. Will not have our custom again

Great stay. Only bug bear was the public WiFi that was a poor signal, always dropping out. Else Wise, great location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast choices, highly recommended.

I though this place was really good. Good menu and friendly staff. Had read a bunch of reviews saying it was pricier than the rest of broadstairs but didn't notice that to be fair. I would like to go back in summer when the garden is open and sit outside looking over the bay.The menu is small but varied and the service is polite and prompt.I think my one complaint is that it would seem to be overbooked for lunch so the guys were running round an awful lot but in this climate I don't blame them!Well worth a visit.

Fantastic room , great sea view. Good food, good bar. Friendly staff and very professional. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. A great asset to the Hotel. Would definitely stay hear again.

Visiting Broadstairs to catch up with old friends. Dropped into the the Royal Albion for a spot of lunch. Backed by Shepherd and Neame I just had to have a 1689, a fantastic beer. We had two burgers and sausage mash, sorry forgot to take any images since I was hungry 🙈🤣. But trust me they weren't to bad. They serve coffee and teas and have a great view of the channel.

Lovely decor (my fave are the teal padded booths with a sea view). But most importantly they got GLUTEN FREE choices (gf burger buns, fries, seafood)

We have just come back from three days at this lovely hotel. Our room was tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed and nice big bathroom. But the best part was the amazing view of the sea from our room. I laid in bed in the morning listening to the sea and saw a fishing boat go past… how amazing is that?The pub and restaurant was very good and loved the big kippers for breakfast and great local beer.The area is so good for walking on the beach and visiting other nearby pubs. One day we visited Margate on the train but Broadstairs is the best with lots of local history with Charles Dickens etc. and nice local shops. I love it so much I didn’t want to leave.Will definitely be back hopefully in the summer next time.

Lovely old hotel just by the sea, staff very friendly and warm, building is old but kept well so if you don’t mind squeaky floor and wonky doors its a very charming place to stay. Location is very central and although they don’t have parking there are options to park just around the corner. Food( dinner and breakfast) were delicious too. No lifts and narrow stairs everywhere so get ready for a bit of leg action getting to the room :) thanks for lovely stay, would definitely come back
