Great location for the town, lovely size room & bathroom, with deep bath! Good view of the sea. Free parking. Nice breakfast (inc if you book direct)Not very welcoming check in experience & hearing the manager really shouting at kitchen staff pre 9am wasn’t a very nice vibe…No soundproofing so room above quite noisy

Had a 2 night stay. Owners were cooperative in changing dates. Room was compact, with a micro bathroom. Bed comfortable and room clean. What I liked about the place. Well, the location is excellent, on the sea front, but quiet. You can stroll into the trendy part of Broadstairs. The property was refurbished 2 years ago to a high standard. There is an ecliptic style of decor. Seems like the owners are Harry Potter fans. You have a large car park, but it is not well light after dark.I would describe The Bay Tree as a superior Guest House offering breakfast, not a hotel with a proper restaurant. There is no real reception area, just part of the hallway. There is a small guest lounge, never saw it in use. The rooms are small, some are in what would have been servant quarters when the building was a grand house. So, you are living out of a suitcase, which is fine for 2 nights.Sadly, the breakfast was disappointing. Undercooked sausage and very greasy bacon, lukewarm baked beans etc. The service was a bit off hand too.So, in summary. This is a place for the DFL's (down from London) to come for a night or two, the slightly quirky nature of venue and the the mildly eccentric nature of the owners will appeal.

Since the lockdown as we travelled, our breakfast was served in little bags in many hotels. We loved our stay there! Everything has been designed carefully in an artistic manner. Breakfast was very good too. Good fresh fruitsalad, nice button mushrooms, eggs done to perfection, cherry tomatoes on the vine and the sausages were tasty too! We were even given a pair of slippers to use! I've never come across any hotel or a guest house doing this! From the hotel we could see the sun and the moon rising! On the day after the full movie on, the moon was like a blood orange as it was coming up in the sky!Only thing I personally didn't like was the brown coloured shampoo and body wash. They reminded me of a medicine cupboard at a doctor's surgery in Sri Lanka. Very cold colour to me!

Possibly the worst dining experience of my life - and on Valentine's Day!After some initial confusions with the booking, we turned up to the restaurant and it was completely empty, no other diners there and no music. It was a very dead and awkward atmosphere. I had to turn on a radio in the room.We had been asked beforehand to e-mail over our menu choices and any dietary requirements which seemed considerate of them until it was all completely ignored. My partner had requested a vegan tagine which was brought out on a plate rather than in a tagine as expected. I am confident the chef does not know what a tagine is. The dish had a huge dollop of Greek yoghurt which did not look vegan at all. We asked the chef to check if this was vegan as requested, but he was unsure and just said "this is what we give to all the guests" and proceeded to bring over the yoghurt pot so we could check ourselves if it was vegan, it was not.His suggestion was to eat around the yoghurt. This was unacceptable as we now had very low confidence in this chef's abilities and could not trust what else was in the dish.Meanwhile I had ordered a rare ribeye steak which I was looking forward to. The chef brought out a "medium-rare" piece of what was supposedly beef and looked like something I wouldn't feed my dog.At that point we decided to leave and generously offered to pay for the drinks and chips as the mains were of too poor quality for human consumption. The owner argued that the steak "seemed OK" to him after prodding it a bit on the plate. Check the photos to see if you agree. We thankfully didn't end up paying anything and were shoed out of the door as if we were some kind of annoyance.I would recommend completely avoiding this place for food especially if you have any dietary requirements or allergies as these are ignored and could have serious consequences for somebody in the future. We are not usually ones to complain or leave a bad review, but there were no offers of an apology at all - very unprofessional.Location was good.

Lovely hotel in a really good location overlooking Stone Bay. As we had a dog with us we where given a ground floor room with its own enclosed patio. It was a lovely room and we appreciated being able to let the dog out safely in the late evening. The food is good quality. I did have a badly cooked poached egg one morning but it wouldn't put me off going back.

Just returned from a 5 day cycling and walking break based at the Bay Tree Hotel, great location right on the sea front and the Viking coastal trail. Had a great Sunday Lunch on arrival and the breakfast each morning was just what you need to set you up for a day of exploring. The staff were very friendly Floyd made us feel welcome and was a fun guy from the moment we booked in. Zona had a great smile and though rushed off her feet managed to keep smiling. Thanks Phoebe you delivered a great breakfast each morning.
