The Old Bake House in Thanet

Lovely little place. Friendly. Great coffee. Nice cakes.

Quaint unpretentious tea shop and bakery in a beautiful old historic building, with old-fashioned service, fayre and ambience. If you are looking for driftwood hung on walls, industrial ship lights, plank floors and trendy macchiato/macha teas, sourdough and kimchi on a cedar platter with triple-cooked chips, forget it.They do homemade soups, jacket potato and a simple lunch menu, sandwiches etc. Which looked hearty, tho i only had a mid aft pick-me-up. Lovely BLT on brown sliced and a mug of strong basic tea was simple and just right while the choc chip pastry twist from the bakery next door was chocolatey and crisp. Prices were equally un-trendy and extremely reasonable. Chatty and friendly ladies served without fuss. All good.

A good reason to move to Broadstairs! We live in London but have become addicted to this baker's macaroons! His breads are great too! Definitely worth a visit; there is a charming olde worlde tea room adjoining the bakery too!

Superb Bakery, the high street smells delicious of baking 🍞 we had a perfect breakfast with pot of tea 🍵 😋 the staff are super efficient, friendly and 😊 happy. Definite 👍 highly recommend.

I went on the first day of holiday and came back for the second. I would have come for the third fourth fifth and sixth if possible(holiday sadly ended). It was an incredible, cute (a little small but fitted the vibe) amazing cafe. It serves perfect food and I can give no complaints xx

A wonderful bakery / tea room. Had the ham ploughman's lunch and was excellent and didn't scrimp on the ham. The staff are kind, courteous & helpful. A real gem in the crown of Broadstairs. Can't recommend enough.

Ordered a fish ploughman’s and literally got a few slices of dry bread, some crab sticks, a piece of mackerel, a pickled onion and some made coleslaw. Extremely underwhelming taste experience. Maybe their baked goods are more impressive…

Ordered for the 1st time, the afternoon tea for my parents to be delivered, it arrived exactly on time and was beautifully presented, my parents assured me the whole order was absolutely delicious, they didn't manage to eat it all at lunch, so had the remaining items for tea later in the evening, will definitely order from here again without a doubt 💯% satisfied

Such good value for the food you get - Under a tenner for a full cream tea! Well worth it, really really lovely staff and ambience inside and can sit in the little flower garden if it’s sunny enough. Would recommend to everyone passing through! 5/5 (wish I had photos of the food but it didn’t last long enough🐷)

A hidden gem in Broadstairs. The best breakfast in town. Very kind and helpful staff and a very wide range in bread and sweets. We enjoyed the jam croissant, eggs on toast and full breakfast. The caramel shortbread is scrumptious, I wish I bought more!
