The Riz in Thanet

Not a bad option if you are looking for Srilankan cuisine in Margate. But not super duper delicious. If you are really hungry, and have no option, you can try this hotel

Just brilliant food. Had the prawn curry, spinach daal, paratha and uppam, was all beautifully made. Delicious.

So if you are looking for somewhere fab to dine out consider this option. Sri Lankan food is different from Indian, but in the UK we tend to merge them in our minds...please don't. If you visit here please ask for classic Sri Lankan food and the amenable staff will accommodate you.Don't ask for Madra or Korma etc, (which only exist as generic labels in the UK) but ask for String Hoppers, Egg Hoppers and proper Sri Lankan curries cooked with coconut etc. You will be in for a feast and it is very different but equally as good as what you get in your favourite curry houses.The reason they can do this quick change is that the chef prepares everything when you order...no reheating here. You do wait a little longer but it is worth it. The chef was only too pleased to cook for us and I can thoroughly recommend it 5 stars...and the best bit it was a total surprise to find such good cooking on North down Road, Cliftonville!

Their great big dosa is a must try! Friendly staff and lovely 90s Tamil instrumental songs take you back in time! Sambar is lovely!

Absolutely amazing food. Authentic flavors, freshness in every bite, friendly staff and mouth watering dishes. This restaurant blew my mind. Just before my food arrived, there were people leaving the restaurant and eager to tip. I had my food and ended up in the same place. What an amazing evening of flavors. Made me rethink about those oily dishes from London 🤣.I could not sleep without putting a good review. IT IS DAMN GOOD.

Superb restaurant. The food is the same as what they eat , totally authentic .The helpings are extremely generous and we also had enough for lunch tomorrow .The flavours just made my mouth water .The service was personal and we met the whole family who obviously work very hard .We were very comfortable there and felt free to sit there as long as we wanted .A real gem in cliftonville, Margate !!!!!!

The food was amazing. We tried the masala dosa and mysore masala dosa. They were unexpectedly huge in size and enough for one person. It was delicious. The coconut and tomato chutneys were also very nice. The portion quantity is good. The coffee there was also good. The staff was very kind and humble. We tried this restaurant on our visit to Botany Bay! Its around 0.6 mile drive from there. Definitely recommend it. It has Vegetarian options also.

Absolutely delicious and very generous portions so we can have a wonderful lunch tomorrow too. Very warm welcome by the whole family and they cook for us what they also eat so completely authentic.Prices very reasonable and the flavours and spice levels were perfect.

My partner and I just ordered a take out from The Riz and instantly needed to write a review about how incredible it was. We ordered a lot of food because we couldn’t decide and everything was so delicious. The delivery driver was also really lovely and we could smell how great the food was before we even opened it up. We’ve 100% found our new favourite restaurant in Margate and already cannot wait to have more.
