Extremely disappointed with Toby carvery for years me and my husband came here but we no longer go here due to it going down hill the staff are okay they could talk to people better then go to your seat and then just leave us, I used to work as a chef and I know very well that a lot of that food was cooked the day before the sausages were dry clearly heated up the day after bacon dry and plates had food marks still on them in my profession this shouldn’t be happing in a restaurant no matter what. And the hygiene can be a lot better I went to the toilets and there were urine marks down the sides of the toilet showing it wasn’t cleaned property we are willing to give Toby Carvery one last chance and if it’s the same we will no longer be going

Breakfast was cold and had clearly been there a while. I get that it's not gonna be straight out the pan but get better trays to keep everything hot. The roasts are always nice though but sort out your cold breakfast.

Waitress was busy but not once did she ask how the meal was. We were left until meal was finished then she took order for the ice cream sundae. She brought the bill when we asked for it. She didn't get a tip as we had no cash and she did payment on the machine without asking us to check the amount etc so we didn't opt for the tip which she may have got had she checked with us the amount... Food was lovely.

Can give 5 stars for staff. Very helpful and seated quite quickly at a busy time of the day. Couldn't fault them one bit.We got put off as at the front of the cue waiting for food a lady had picked up a spare piece of crackling waiting for her meat to be served, she then spoke to the chef and spat all over the meat and yorkshires you saw food spray out of her mouth. That put me off so i had veg only. The famous gravy was also very powdery when cooled so that put me off too.The chocolate fudge cake and ice-cream was good though

Breakfast is very cheap but very disappointing. Why only strawberry jam for your toast. The butter is almost melted. Bit more selection generally would have been nice. Cold.Lunch time carvery is much better. Very enjoyable. Would love to have parsnips. On the one occasion there were parsnips they were just a soggy mess. Need to be well roasted to enhance the flavour.Staff are lovely. Best bit of visiting. We go regularly but just minor changes needed

·

Lovely food, very friendly staff. I would advise anyone wanting to here to book, been here numerous occasions weekdays/weekends and people tend to get sent away without a booking. To add restaurant was clean and tidy and service was excellent!

·

Just had a roast and a broccoli/Brie parcel and was lovely and family really enjoyed this food. Definitely would recommend. It’s sad to see so many negative and rude reviews about this place as the staff put a lot of effort and time into their work just to be verbally abused.

This place used be great for a roast we used to go there all of the time, but now its dirty the toilets are dirty the floor is dirty and the food was awful. Whoever the manager is he or she needs to step back and take a good look at the place. Its a shame because it was such a great place for a pint and a carvery.

·

Lovely food and cheerful friendly staff. Tables and seats weren't very clean. Bit surprised that we were the only people wearing masks when walking about the restaurant...personal choice of course.

I used the Toby App to pre-book our table, it was easy to do, the food and service was great and we didn't feel pressured into "eat up and get going" like you do at some other places.
