i paid £440 for two nights in this hotel but what a disappointment for the large amount to stay in the hotel it was on the very hot and very shabby rooftop. Me and my girlfriend were very annoyed and frustrated about the service of the bar staff and the dinner. the oldest and white-haired woman in the bar dinner staff was very unfriendly to us and had a distinctive demeanor from us and other guests because we were European. Asia and being discriminated against my girlfriend is very sad and not in the mood to continue there. will never come back never recommend anyone to come here

Amazing evening with wonderful food. Battered Haddock filled the plate and handcut triple cooked chips. Service was excellent and even in June when it's raining outside the fire was lit.

We just called in for coffee which was lovely BUT I seriously hope that colour on all the walls and great beams was an undercoat ready for something far more tasteful and inkeeping with the age of the property!!Called in for lunch this time. What on Earth is going on in The Bear?Told by bar person that the restaurant was full, ( it wasn't! )No service in the one room at all.Told to go outside to "queue"?The "cube"?No idea!!Had a lovely lunch in The Duke of Wellington across the road!!

Went for a meal. Spot on. Scallops starter, lamb main, all beautifully cooked and presented. Nice pint to accompany. About £35 per head including drinks. Well worth it

Friendly staff and a very well prepared and presented dinner. The rooms are tired ( we were a the top of the hotel and it was noisy with the wind causing something in the roof /attic void to come loose) and the Bathroom plumbing was broken. The Breakfast was outsourced to a venue on the other side of the road and was quite frankly 'awful'.Not a place to stay that I would hurry back to....but clearly adequate for large groups sightseeing.

Only went for Sunday Lunch with the family, lovely place with very friendly staff, meal was great. We were lucky with parking but it is a busy road.Cant rate the rooms as didn't stay the night.

The bear hotel and Amy in particular helped me organise a memorial evening for my late husband. I cannot praise them highly enough. The room was perfect, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The chef provided gluten free and vegetarian options plus home made chocolate éclairs which were superb. It was a very special evening made perfect by the attention to detail and in particular Angharad who was so kind and made every effort to help in any way she could.Thank you so much to all the staff at the Bear.Highly recommended by all who were there that evening.Best wishesBeth O'Keeffe

Loved the experience. Cozy, nicely smelling little hotel with an amazing restaurant and most pleasant staff. The room was rally comfortable, really clean and tidy, and the bathtub was huge! I'd be delighted to visit again.

Beautiful hotel on the main street in Cowbridge. Lovely bedrooms, exceptionally clean with very comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was taken across the road at a neighbouring restaurant but dinner served in house and the quality was first class. We really enjoyed our stay at the Bear and will definately been returning soon.
