The Colcot Arms Hotel in Barry in The Vale of Glamorgan

The food wasn't as good as it could have been, overcooked scampi and they ran out of sweet pot fries after we had paid for them. We did get a refund on the chips but we had to ask.

Really quiet (probably around 12 people during our visit) but perfect for me today, being only my 2nd pub since way before pandemic. Friendly and Welcoming Staff, good choice of drinks and really good food. Would have given 5⭐️ but as much as i completely understand there has to be a cut off point for food getting told at 7.01pm we were too late to order deserts as cut off is 7pm. Really put a danpner on the visit and instead of spending more time and money we chose to leave to go home instead to have dessert and a couple more drinks. But would definitely recommend a visit

55 minute wait for food although ordered through the app which was told would be quicker. Chicken very dry only ate it due to the long wait and being hungry. Steak was mostley fat asked for medium rare and it came out more medium well.

0 stars Waited an hour for food and was burnt, steak was mainly fat and too cooked than what I asked for. Chicken was burnt and dry. Chips weren’t cooked properly.

Thursday 17.03.22 Very disappointed. Vegetable lasagne burnt to a crisp more charcoal than any other ingredient. Sausage and mash very thin gravy with raw chopped spring onions. Last week perfect thick onion gravy and peas. Proper food. Shame

Today was better experience, less waiting time better servings better cook. The best local family friendly pub for sizzling meals. Also children's meals are excellent value for money. Lovely staff just shame they still require booking in advance due to covid. Very happy 😊 only thing I'd add would be a outdoors play place for the kids. Still 100% best value for money 6 of us less than £50

Popped in for food on Thursday evening. Lovely social distanced tables. Staff welcoming. Food tasty. Football being shown on tvs. Nice big outside area. Plenty of parking. Will return when next in the area

Just been to the colcot arms for my granddaughter’s 16th birthday, won’t be going again. Booked a table for 6 for 5pm and asked taking into consideration, if we could at least be able to see her, that never happened. Only 4 and one child meal was ordered out of the 6 on our and waited an hour for them, 2 of the 4 adult meals wasn’t what was ordered so sent back and wasn’t prepared to wait another hour so was going for a take away, the other 2 meals were missing an item, did complain so they didn’t charge us for 2 of the drinks. It wasn’t that busy if we weren’t there it would have been very quiet. Altogether not the experience we’re were expecting 😡

Lovely friendly staff, food great value. Large car parking. Clean tidy little pub.
