Staff seemed to have really low morale. Food was really slow at coming out and our meals didn't come out together, and it wasn't even busy, the food that had.been cooked on the grill was tainted by the taste of a dirty grill. We had pudding, once again took ages to come out,.we had ordered 3 puddings and they came out with a 10 min gap between them. It's such a shame cos we went a few years back and it was brilliant.

Love a hungry horse, however I hope you take this as constructive criticism, stood to be seated as the sign informed but no one came to seat us so we seated ourselves. Staff shortage maybe? Que by bar was huge 3 staff serving but took ages. We waited the longest time and was just about to go and ask where our food was as it came. Sadly the food was cold😭 our waiter was fab but everything else needs to be addressed to keep up with other hungry horse pubs we have enjoyed.

So thanks to covid I haven't seen my family in over 2 years and as have a 2 year old daughter and a 13 year old son I thought the ship would be a good place to meet as they advertised 2 large play areas 1 inside and 1 outside. So I went ahead and booked a table for 7 of us with a table and high chair. When we all arrived they informed us that a unexpected hun party of 20 had just turned up and have taken our table, it would be over a hours wait on food unless we ordered straight awa and they weren't informed of the highchair, I asked about the play areas and they were closed and heavy blocked off.The meals were good except for my mothers green burger that was frozen in the middle. Although it was taken off the bill which became a refund as you have to pay upfront.I won't be returning

Pleasant enough but service a little muddled. Food arrives at the table as it's cooked. 4 meals ordered and then arrived one at a time over a 10 min period. This happened to other tables too. Eat off the specials menus as full price is a bit overpriced. I would go again as it is perfectly acceptable but could be better. The following is a response to the managers comments. For clarification we ate on a Saturday when the big plate specials were reduced in price. At £8 a meal its a reasonable price. Not so sure I would feel the same at full price. Thank you to the management for pointing out that your daily deals menu isn't a special deal. Yes I have got the right place and please understand that my comments are not a complaint or criticism, just a hope that an issue from a customers point of view can be understood and rectified.

Saturday lunch for 5 adults, 2 kids. 4 adult meals perfect, 1 adult meal found large sausage overcooked/hard. 1 children's meal perfect, 1 came with peas not baked beans. Good choice of menu, prices very reasonable. Service good, tables clean, toilets clean. Nice building. Would visit again. Would like to see all tables and soft play open again.

We stopped off here on our way home to Newport from a day on the coast and what a find. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious, we were made to feel very welcome even though we hadn't booked we were give a great place to sit and was given a very good tip for dessert too, thank you.

Wouldn't even give 1 star!!!!Didn't have what I wanted from the menu so choose something else to go with the £10.49 weekday deal...To then come and say that they didn't have that, to then pick something else snd that wasn't there either!! So I eventually picked something, to then be told I would have ti pay thr extra because it wasn't in that deal!!!!!Really?? Even though I had choose 3 things from that menu and they wasn't in stock! We paid the £6.49 top up and made it clear that we wasn't happy about it..2 members of the parties food arrived and mine 10 minutes later...Sent our burnt garlic bread backThe manager had a disgusting attitude and talked about is while we was eating our food the whole time we was there! Will never step foot in this place again!!!

Nice food, great atmosphere fab staff! Excellent live music.. well recommended!! Part of the hungry horse group, great range of food and plenty of weekly deals going on. Play area for the children and huge bar area for a quiet pint. Weekly live music on Fridays with some awesome acts!

1st time we have received a bad meal there. There seemed to be a lack of staff. When we ordered food we were told there was a 30min wait, this turned into a wait just short of an hour. The steak was unedible and this spoilt my meal. Not one member of staff apologised for the delay with the waiting time. The duty manager did not apologise when I told him I was unhappy with the meals, tho he did refund one of the meals.Hope this is a one off
