An 14th century pub, which we loved. We only popped in for a drink and got a warm welcome from everyone. There is a large garden with comfy sofas and a new outside bar and pizza oven which will be opening soon, definitely going back!

Beef from sunday roast was suspiciously cold and looked like it was reheated - only thing we didnt eat together all day and my girlfriend has food poisoning now. It’s a shame because all the rest was worth a 5 star review

Sunday roast. A lot on the plate, but unfortunately the meat was tough and it wasn't prepared well. (Lots of bone that could have been removed). The food was just piled on the plate with no real attention to presentation. Quality would have been preferred rather than quantity.

Great Traditional pub you rarely get this these days a real social mix friendly and welcoming . Staff are pleasant and attentive whether you pop in for just a drink or have meal steaks are amazing i always recommend them to my carnivorous Air Bnb guests always something for the veggies too . Wonderful enclosed rear garden with views fantastic for the little ones to work off some energy . Had a great Sunday lunch there with my niece and friends Dee behind the bar is a real character shout out to Lauren too . Well done girls you have a great team .

Great country pub, log fire and wood burner, local ales and quality food cooked by the very approachable and professional chef. Private car park, all in all a great find in the countryside.

I heard good things about the elephants head so I decided to take my mum and brothers there for lunch for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best experience. We turned up and were seated, took a while to be served drinks and didn’t get menus until we had got our drinks, then it took at least 30 minutes until we could order our food, nobody came to serve us and we had to go and ask the young waitress with red hair to serve us, who didn’t apologise for the wait and looked very moody and had a rude manner about her. (And to note they weren’t extremely busy) The food didn’t take long to come which was good, my brother ordered a beef burger well cooked and it turned up very rare but we caught the chefs eye and he was very helpful and replaced the burger nice and quickly, the fish and chips weren’t wonderful the fish was very greasy and had a lot of batter and barely any fish which was a bit of a shame. We wanted another round of drinks and ended up having to go to the bar to get them as we were being ignored by both young waiters. We then couldn’t get the bill for ages, by then we really just wanted to leave, eventually the kind chef came out and caught our eye again and got the bar man to sort out bill out, 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill which we paid but for the service we received from the two waiters that money wasn’t deserved, the young lad looked like he hadn’t been there long and was very new to the job but the young girl was very rude, we didn’t expect to receive dirty looks and being ignored when coming out for a treat and paying for a service so that’s very disappointing. We won’t be returning but I will say the only person we really appreciated for being very helpful and attentive was the chef without him the service would have been diabolical. I am sure other people have had far better experiences with different waiters, It’s a shame but your young waitress is really letting the side down and needs some serious training.

Visited Hook Green and this pub for Sunday Dinner. Good roast beef with all trimmings and a surprisingly good cauliflower cheese. Not much choice of beers but Best on tap was good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere No village to speak of and local walking very limited, although just a short drive away from Bewl reservoir.

We haven’t been to this pub in a while but we were blown away by the greeting, friendliness and food. We did a 2hour walk beforehand complete with dog, then had a fabulous Sunday lunch - truly delicious and the carrots were divine! The desserts were delicious too - highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. We will definitely be back - thank you!

Really nice pub. Wonderful and kind staff. They make you feel at home. Cosy inside, with fireplace, and a lovely beer garden views to the countryside. The food is amazing! I tasted a delicious pie day and scotish eggs! Definetly I will come back! I really recommend you this pub ;)
