Took my in-laws for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had a couple of favourites - deliciously fresh fish and chips and a few dishes from the new menu - a tender beef ragu and really good arancini. The Caesar salad is also a decent choice. The service was great, we were eating within 20 mins of arrival. We like the natural light in The Terrace - it’s a clean, bright and airy restaurant with spacious seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Handy on other occasions for a quick coffee and cake too!

Waited 40mins for very mediocre, way overpriced food. Several other customers were complaining around me about the wait. The general atmosphere was not great. It’s a shame as this place use to be good many years ago. This is the second time I’ve been recently and the experience hasn’t been great.

Very disappointing after a 40 minute wait our food finally arrived and they weren’t busy. The soup had no taste and was watery. The shepherds pie was covered in horrible strong cheese which gave it a horrid twang and it was so small certainly not worth £12:95. The bottom of the dish was coated in oil too .All in all a waste of £53

Went to get peach melba but they have changed the recipe and it's not as good as it used to be, now consisting of a cake base instead of pastry. The pastry was very hard and difficult to get into with the fork and spoon provided, pastry very tough and fondent quite melted, not real fresh cream as advised by staff member, instead was small amount of peach flavoured cream. Also when I was looking at the hot food menu as I fancied some chips, I was advised that they were no longer doing any hot food at all, so would have to choose something else by a staff member. Then the women behind us ordered hot food and got chip and sandwiches brought to them... not as nice an experience as previous visits and hadn't been able to visit for the last 2 years due to health reasons.

Sadly the kitchen was closed over the weekend. So no cooked breakfast unfortunately . Their cooked breakfast is very tasty. I had a lovely scone and coffee instead. Better luck next time. .

Order fish& chips and afternoon tea at the same time 13:49Wait for an hour 15:00 fish switch to fish fingerToo hungry, couldn’t taste the flavor of food.

A little mix-up waiting for my food but the staff were friendly and helpful. My club sandwich was great and very tasty. My wife's steak sandwich was a little too 'bready' but the meat was good. Chips were good too. Added to our list as they catered well for babies, although the toilets are on the other side of the store.

The terrace cafe is a really light and comfortable space at the top of this excellent shop. The food and drinks on offer are good and although priced at the top end it’s a nice place to stop for a treat. There’s something that makes it lose a star, the final execution and service just feel a little clinical and not as warm and inviting as other places

Ensure you take your receipt. When my lunch did not arrive, the manager told me there were no more orders in the kitchen and "unless you have your receipt" he couldn't do anything. Luckily I had taken it at the till. When my lunch finally arrived, after most of my group had finished theirs, it was pushed in front of me, piled onto a too small plate. At no point did the manager manager apologise.

My parents have visited many times previously and have always said how brilliant this place is. Today it was my turn to visit, and I was not disappointed. I had the red velvet cake and a hot chocolate. Most cakes were already cut into slices, but the red velvet wasn't, so I had to guess how large I should cut the slice. Service when ordering drinks and paying was quick. The cafe/restaurant was kept clean and tidy, with smart and modern furnishings. The cake and hot chocolate were both delicious.I'm looking forward to my next visit!
