The Chequers Inn in Tunbridge Wells

Excellent and delicious Sunday roast! Really well seasoned and generous portions. The roast beef was succulent and had a lovely strong beefy flavour, the chicken was lovely and the haddock was excellent too. Overally 5/5 for taste, value and portion size.We were slightly let down by the service, 3/5; it wasn't too busy but noone came to greet us after we sat down or to take any orders.We arrived at 4.30pm on Sunday so it was fair that they'd run out of certain things like the lamb and beef burger, as well as the chocolate brownie and cheesecake. It was disappointing, but we'll go earlier next time!

What an opportunity spurned by the management team: excellent position, great for families, and yet, they get it miserably wrong. Forgot our lunch order, had to ask my wife [very unusual for me] to challenge a waiter, response a breezy apology which earlier paralleled a welcome which included...."we have only one person in the kitchen" What the hell, and what did we expect. C'mon owners put a bloody shift in!

Lovely place, idyllic location in a quiet village on the river with a peaceful garden and decking. Great food & very friendly landlord too!

We wanted something light to share so opted for the scotch egg, fritatta, courgette fritters and bread. It was all completely delicious and the humble bread and butter was naughty but so very nice.

Great quality freshly cooked food, not your average pub grub. And very attentive staff, a lovely evening for our large group of 12.

Great pub. Loved the decor, staff were very attentive and the Sunday Roast was unbeatable. Especially considering we were told that one chef was off Sick so it was just one person in the kitchen. We still commented on how quickly the food came. Will definitely be back

Lovely friendly pub service good we enjoyed our meal very much made all the more enjoyable by the young lady who waited on us she was a real joy and a breath of fresh air nothing was to much trouble for her ,a big Thank-you to her for making my husbands birthday even more special and fun Thank-you so much to you all

A beautiful pub, staff are lovely and friendly which brings us back time after time. We absolutely love the Sunday roast, it's unbeatable!

Fantastic Sunday lunch, roasts were delicious. Staff were all super friendly and welcoming especially to Luna the dog. We will be back

Truly Amazing. Five of us eat here for lunch twice over the last few days topping and tailing a weekend away in Ditchling. Both meals were exceptional with the Sunday Roast especially good. Very high end quality but not pretentious and very reasonable prices. Very well kept Harveys. Brilliant staff and a particularly hospitable landlord who tells a good story, knows his beer and looks after you. Highly recommended.
