Seemed like a gorgeous pub, with waterlily pond. However, when I tried to make very small food order, was told by unsmiling staff member that kitchen had been taken over by order from table of 17..& no one else wd get a look in for 45min.. As some one who lost my mum in childhood, & then my babies, too many times I've seen "hospitality" get taken over by large, noisy groups.. Once again, no room at the inn for me... Left in tears.

Terrific. We went on Sunday and the food was top-class and not over-priced. Location and inside are beautiful. Definitely going again !

Just had the most delicious venison casserole....others raved about the roast beef and fish and chips. Little one ate all of the kids spaghetti bolognaise. Argentinian merlot was perfect with the venison and beef. Sticky toffee pudding for all was perfect end to a fabulous meal! Thank you so much

Excellent service and food! Accommodated our very large group (with children) for a birthday. The staff were attentive and proactive and everyone in our party was pleased with their roast meals. Could view the rugby as well.

What a great pub this is, it's the second time I've eaten here, the food is amazing, as is the atmosphere. It's a shame I'm in Sandwich, otherwise definitely would be eating at the Eight Bells every week.

Had a family meal here last night, firstly the food was great, steaks were perfect!!!booked for 6pm, told that we would need to be off the table by half 7, so didn't manage a starter or a coffee to finish the meal, the next party for our table arrived early and had to stand and wait by the entrance (keeping the door open and making the pub cold) felt very rushed, asked for clean desert spoons as ours were dirty, and the waitress handed them to us holding the part we place in our mouth, the pub was extremely packed and noisy, I appreciate wanting to get as many bookings as possible but at least allow bookings to enjoy a meal properly ans finish without being told 'we need your table can you move to the bar to finish up' needless to say, despite the great food, the customer care here means we wouldn't b even to return, when your bill is over £200 and you've booked a table you expect to be able to relax and enjoy your evening out. Something we were unable to do here last night.

Fabulous Sunday roast yesterday. Had the pork loin which was so tender and tasty. Bread and butter pudding was also lovely . Staff very friendly and service couldn't be faulted. Will return again very soon.

Never been here before. Very impressed. Food was excellent along with the service. Really good menu, not your mainstream offering. Well thought out and delicious.Best to book as it gets busy.Car park a little on the small side with no apparent clear marked parking bays. We managed to park two cars just around the corner by the church.Small offering of advice. If you plan to leave the restaurant during the hours of darkness , take a torch. There is no street lighting outside the restaurant or in the street. You basically hit a wall of blackness. The car park may have been lit but as we couldn't get in there we don't know.
