We just come for a drink. The most clean place. Pleasant and kind staff. We love it here. Very interesting old hotel with loads of history .

Very nice hotel and restaurant. The staff was very nice. The food is delicious! I had the possibility to have a gluten free burger and also the bread for the breakfast was GF.I really recommend it. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I hope to come back. The only negative thing is that breakfast starts at 7.30...so if you are on holiday it's not a big deal but if you are there for work then it will be complicated.

Great service from professional and friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable with everything you would need for a short stay. The inclusive breakfast was delicious, large portions and there was something for everyone! I would highly recommend to others and will visit again myself.

We hired The Cranbrook Bar for a 40th birthday bash and it was a great night courtesy of the team at The George. The bar staff did a great job all night and the food was excellent too, thank you all.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and we managed to get a parking space which was good. It was a shame that when we asked if we could have the free bottle of wine with the two mains we ordered (like everyone else), that we were told we were too late and that you had to say about the offer before you ordered your food. I think the free wine offer should have been mentioned to us when we ordered by the waiter, like any other establishment with a special offer. It felt rather unwelcoming after that, even though we were actually staying in the hotel, so good customers. Rather marred the experience really. Small gestures mean the most sometimes.

We stayed for one night at the hotel when visiting a nearby hospital. We were well looked after by Kyle and colleagues who were friendly and efficient. We had a pleasant and tasty dinner in the hotel in the evening followed by breakfast in the morning. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable although there was no view to speak of from the window. The hotel is several hundred years old and is steeped in history - full of character it is a great place to visit, even if only for a drink or meal.

Amazing hotel, amazing staff amazing food, I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. I have stayed here every week for the past 5 1/2 months and everyone at the George made my stay as welcoming as my own home. Great bunch of people and a lovely place to stay. Rooms are great and cleanliness is second to none. Food is 1st class and the service is exceptional. 10/10.

Enjoyed lunch and a couple of drinks Sunday. A good selection of food, bar not too busy (I know that is not great for the proprietors but it is comforting for some of us!). Quick service, very pleasant ladies serving. They closed the bar at 3pm for the day due to staff shortages, seemed a little odd but I suppose that is one of the joys of 2021.

Beautiful quirky hotel. Ornate four poster bed with free standing bath and power shower. Staff were very pleasant and the food in the restaurant was top notch for lunch and breakfast. Would definitely return!
