Good choice of sandwiches! Helpful info about muffins and was okay for dogs outside.

Unfortunately no experience of the catering, as currently there's no chef, but lovely views of Bewl Water

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, who advised on cycling routes in November and car park season tickets. Coffee was not the best in the world, though the scenery made up for this. Kids playing area well used. Boats and bikes for hire. Camping site available. Looking forward to the summer when the sun should add much to these facilities.

Poor food and expensive for what they are. At the moment they offer takeaway only.

We paid £8.50 for a “quarter pounder with gherkins and diced onion” expecting something half decent seeing as it took a while to come out.The photo says it all really, I was fuming, you’d get better quality in McDonald’s. The burger was so thin and obviously microwaved and I got a grand total of 3 gherkins out the jar that’s probably a year old.The £8 “battered chicken pieces” were like eating dry cardboard too. Appalling establishment to say the least.

Very little choice of food. In fact it was burger, chicken nuggets or veggie burger all with chips. And that was it. They forgot to add a top bun for four of the five burgers?! How do you miss that? Chips were soggy and oily. Not particularly cheap for what you get. A real shame as it could have so much potential.

For such a large facility in such a great location, it's not very good. A small selection of food, only some of which is fresh. The coffee is served in single use paper cups, and the cutlery (and some plates) is disposable. The tables and chairs are quite dirty, covered in mud from other guests who've been out rambling. I understand this might be tricky to keep on top of, but in the half hour I was there, nobody did any cleaning, despite it being fairly quiet. I'd skip this place.

It costs at writing £2 to park by the restaurant, which is at the top of a gentle slope down to Bewl Water. As you walk in, a room to your left has hot and soft drinks and some snacks to take away. Go past it to enter the restaurant.The airy, wood-floored restaurant has an unimaginative selection of the sort of food you could find in most schools in England at lunchtime. From my visit, I could recommend the competently done fish and beef pies, with which we took decent chunky chips (potato mash and thin-cut chips were options) and grilled vegetables (which were good). The hot vegetarian option was uninspiring cauliflower cheese. There is a cold selection (pasta, olives, coleslaw etc).But of course you do not come here for the food but for the lake. The Waterside Restaurant sits atop a gentle slope down to Bewl Water. There is outdoors seating with tables from which you can enjoy the prospect in good weather. There is a playground past the main entrance for the little ones and also a pirate-themed little "adventure" playground by the water, by where you can wade out. A water taxi on the hour will take you around Bewl Water in 40 minutes from the jetty (cost per head £6 at writing), and you can hire pedal boats.All in all, the Waterside Restaurant therefore is a good place to eat because of the amenities to which you will have access.
