Excellent. Cannot rate highly enough. Food choice and quality superb. Try the baked camembert for starter. Beef and ale pie great. Sea Bass lovely. Good choice of beer - Abbot and IPA well kept.Service excellent. Dogs welcomed - bowl of water and packet of gravy bones each.

Lovely popular pub/ restaurant to visit for that special celebration treat. Booking in advance is recommended. Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit for an early evening meal, for our daughters birthday we were given a friendly welcome by staff, nothing was to much trouble for the ordering of meals for the younger members of our party, good choice of food, and drinks available on the menus, all facilities were clean, hence 5* given. As the saying goes, first impressions count, very highly recommended for people to visit. Lit car parking with camera surveillance is available across the road.

Beautiful historic pub, the kind of place you bring friends to impress. The chocolate box thatched roof makes it memorable alongside its location close to Thames river. The food is good with healthy choices that are reasonable priced. We arrived on a cold and rainy Wednesday and warmed up with soup and a delicious open flatbread sandwitch. The service is welcoming and friendly and we will come back again to enjoy a sunny day in their beautiful garden.

This is a really nice pub with lovely food and a traditional atmosphere. The staff are great, friendly, helpful and just attentive enough for a good meal. In Febrary there were some real fires which enhanced our visit. Colouring-in menus and a couple of crayons were provided for children.

Love this historic pub, although it's more of a restaurant nowadays. The food is good and at a fair price. I thought the soft drinks a bit costly though. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good. There's plenty of car parking over the road. Booking is recommended as it is very popular.

Beautiful pub, one of those places where you go and you like everything. The food is good, the attention was excellent and I will definitely go again.

Had not been for a number of years. Thought we would give it a try. My starter was good, however from there unfortunately that was as good as it got. The bottom of the pie was hard, veg over cooked, however pepper sauce on the steak was good. Unfortunately hit and miss and on this occasion it would be a miss. In and out in about 65 minutes. Unfortunate.

Built in the 1350's, the pub's style brings you to that kind of atmosphere with lovely food and nice staff. We enjoyed it, we went early on Monday and it wasn't packed, just busy and sat next by the fire...maybe better go early if you don't like the craziness from late lunch. Prices are very dear and the food was great and the tips was at our discretion(maybe they should add it compulsory). Will come back for sure. Maybe ask for the burger to be a little more juicy if you don't like it overcooked, the garlic bread was amazing also the dressing from the mac'n cheese, yummy. We also had the patė which was delicious. I think in the summer is very nice to go also because they have modern rattan tables with wonderful view.

Ordered the vegan mushroom and ale pie, and beetroot steak burger - both were delicious. The pub garden is really nice too, definitely recommend this place for vegans after a walk at whittenam clumps.
