Great ambience but portion sizes small yet highly priced.

·

Good food cooked well, problem was bad service otherwise it would have been 5 stars

We arrived at Sudbury House reception and were shown through to the restaurant drawing room for canopies and our coats were taken whilst we choose from the menu. We had rung ahead regarding our dietary requirements (gluten/nuts) and the chef was very accommodating by changing a few dishes to meet our needs. We were asked if we were there for an occasion? I said it was for my birthday. We were shown through to the dining room and enjoyed seven courses of carefully selected and exquisitely presented food. Each course was served by the waiters who then explained the ingredients and the idea behind the dishes. Whilst we were waiting for the bill, we noticed the card on the table was hand written, the team had all signed to wish me a happy birthday, it made the night and I was so grateful. This was a fantastic experience which I highly recommend, we loved every moment. It should be a Michelin restaurant with the level of presentation and attention to detail.

Excellent food and atmosphere by talented chefs. Good value for a top quality restaurant. Recommended for those special occasions!

Went to a wedding breakfast at Restaurant 56 where we had the taster menu. It was a truly wonderful experience. The food was amazing and the chef and his team spoke to the guests about how he made the various parts of each course. Nothing was too much trouble.

Happy with the food quality and the service. Have returned several times since when on shoots in local Oxford area. Always pleased and never disappointed. I would thoroughly recommend.

The food is good but the pizza is not up to standard. The tomato sauce on top was very salty and the pizza was uncooked. Eat everything you would like to choose from the menu but my advice is to avoid to order pizza.

Fine dining at it's best, beautiful setting for a fabulous restaurant. We tried the Prime tasting menu and the food was exquisite, has to be awarded a Michelin star anytime soon. The professionalism of all the staff contribute to an all round amazing dining experience. We travelled to stay in Oxfordshire for a few day's especially to be able to try the restaurant as it has been on my "to do list" for the last year. Andrew Scott and Nick Bennett are amazing chefs.

My 2 friends and I had a delightful meal. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to one of our dairy and gluten free needs was exemplary. The food was divine and the service perfect.

Fantastic restaurant. The chefs are outstanding, food is superb and a fabulous range of wines. Staff provide excellent service and are always so welcoming. We love this place, a crime it doesn't have a couple of Michelin stars.
