The Bear and Ragged Staff in Vale of White Horse

Absolutely lovely place to go for food & drinks.Very reasonable price, I had a duck salad and my partner had a soup for lunch and it was beautiful. Really friendly staff and very attentive.They do have 7 rooms also to stay in overnight which I do plan on having an overnight stay.

Breakfast at the BearSuperb breakfast and absolute treat, high quality food and service.Sunny enough to sit outside at the weekend but inside is just as enjoyable.We had a Full English andAvocado on sour dough toast, poached eggs spring onion, chilli.Coffee comes with little smarties on the side which is a lovely touch. In the picture the little pot is empty as I ate them all!Worth a visit if you are in the area or passing.

Had an amazing stay in Decemeber 2021 and liked it so much we stopped by for lunch a few weeks later! Friendly, comfortable, great food & drink, welcoming for children and dogs. We'll be back (again)!

Lovely little find. Stopped here for breakfast on the way to Dorset. The staff were really friendly and polite, the inn itself is lovely in a quiet country village setting. The food was excellent too, will definitely visit again.

Had a most enjoyable delayed birthday treat at the Bear & Ragged Staff. The Staff, food, room and atmosphere were excellent. The whole experience made even better by the very friendly locals, all had a smile and hello on our walk around the village. Will return on a regular basis.

Such a beautiful place, feels like stepping back in time. Dinner was truly outstanding: we had a couple of classic English desserts that my partner had never tried before and totally blew her mind :) Our Steak Diane was perfectly-cooked quality beef with a spot-on sauce. Room was comfy with thoughtful touches.

What happened?This is our local pub and was supposed to be one of our favourites based on past experience.Today however was quite disappointing. The cod on green peas purée was unimpressive at best (I would not dare to serve this to guests at home) and the steak came with disappointing sides. I will likely come back at some point based on good previous experiences but it will take me a couple of months to get over today’s.

Me and my partner, just had a fabulous weekend stay an the Bear and Ragged Staff.A first class pub that is clearly extremely well run by its manager!!!!The staff are all very professional and go the extra half mile to ensure that you enjoy your stay.The food and service were excellent.The accommodation was traditionally in keeping with the character of the premises.We shall definitely be returning!! I recently spent 3 nights at this establishment. It's located in pleasant rural village, about 15 minutes bus ride from Oxford City Centre. The bus stop is 5 minutes walk from the pub and the service is regular. Our room was out side the main building. It was clean and spacious and accessed via external stairs. The pub part of the bar had a wood fire and a nice countryside feel. There's a good selection of beer and all the normal drinks you'd expect. The restaurant is spacious and the menu has plenty of choice. We ate there each evening, the food and service were excellent. The Breakfasts menu is good and the breakfasts are very nice. All the staff are very helpful and go out of their way to provide an excellent service. The staff set the venue above others I've stayed at. I would definitely recommend the Bear & Ragged Staff Oxford.

Not sure how this place only has a 4.4 average rating. The serving staff were attentive and helpful: there were almost as many specials as there were items on the menu. Every dish I had was delicious and well-presented and the selection of cocktails and wine was superb. All set in a beautiful Inn with tons of garden seating. Well worth repeated visits, highly recommend.
