Such an under advertised place! We visited for a drink on Easter Saturday, very reasonably priced compared to a lot of places around. Came again on the Sunday expecting it to be rammed but no. Very quiet, we had the lamb and the beef sunday dinners. The food was lovely, meat very tender, two types of potatoes and four types of veg, large yorkie! Our only tiny criticism we would have liked a drop more gravy, but we also didn't ask for any either. All for twelve quid each it was spot on!

Wonderful country pub!Recently came in for a quiet drink/evening meal. The pub has a great selection of ales and largers on draught. The food was nice and service was fast and professional, the bar lady Jody who was always happy to help and was very welcoming, really gave the pub a great friendly atmosphere.

Lovely local pub. Staying at Hawkwell house hotel, popped in for a quick pint and it’s great. Lots of Cask ales plus decent lager. Friendly chef/land lord had a chat. He’s a young lad from up north, taken the place on only 3 months ago and working hard to keep a local pub going. Jodi working so hard behind the bar, pulling those cask ales like a pro! Well worth a visit.

Entered the pub quiz, thought it would be a lovely experience for my retired elderly father who was over joyed with the prospect of having an outing. Unfortunately this seems like a local pub for local people. We were not only shouted at by the locals in there for not swapping the quiz papers on time, baring in mind this was our first time playing. It was a hostile environment to say the least. We were over the moon to see we had won with a score of 45 but then we were told we had not won and the players who scored lower than us (the locals) had won. When asked why, we were told the manager chooses who wins. It's a real shame to be treated with such disregard and injustice. This is definitely a local pub for local people with a nasty vibe, men that shout at young women and total disregard for the safety of loan women. You will never win the quiz it seems it's all planned and a sham from the begining.A shame as the pub much potential. Do not go it's unsafe, injust and unfriendly.Stick with the delights of the more welcoming atmosphere of the Isis or Rusty Bicycle where quizzes are played fairly and old men do not abuse new comers.

Great pub. Warming atmosphere and very friendly landlady. Delicious food. Highly recommended if you are in the Oxford area and fancy a quiet laid back beer.

Just had a very disappointing lunch. No draught bitter. Asked for a cheese ploughman’s lunch. Told “sorry, I dropped the jar of pickle”. So I opted for a cheese and ham sandwich. Then out came the food, no knife and fork. No butter in the sandwich, it was bone dry. Grated cheese, I had hoped for a decent cheddar, package sliced ham. It was so dry that I asked for mayonnaise. Told “I’ll bring it in a minute”. Waited a fair while and nothing. Went inside to get my own mayonnaise, there wasn’t any. The food was so bland and dry that it stuck to the roof of my mouth. My mate said it was like eating one of Ghandi’s flip flops.

Lovely lunch on a quiet, lazy Sunday. The place was bustling but not too crowded. So it was possible to have a conversation without raising your voice. Service is decent and the place is kid and pet friendly.

This is a 'proper' pub. They had 3 Wadsworth beers on tap (usually 4 from the looks of things) and the usual selection of lagers ciders and a well known stout. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat. The baskets (scampi or whitebait) were good value at less than a tenner. The staff were friendly and there was lots of parking.

Lovely local traditional pub. Great atmosphere and friendly welcome. Jody was super helpful and knowledgeable on the menu. Good choice of food and allergies catered for with ease and confidence. Will definitely be visiting regularly.
