Booked for Sunday lunch. Arrived and stood waiting at the bar to be greeted/served for a good 10 mins until the barman went to serve a local before me (who graciously pointed it out- it happens). Sat in the garden and was told to order food at the bar, a further 10 min wait to be served. Food came out after 45 mins but sent to the wrong table, ours followed another 15 mins later. The other table having to wait 20 mins until the rest of their order turned up. No apologies or acknowledgement of the delays or mix up at any point by the staff to us. Went back in to settle up and didn't realise they had automatically charged a 12.5% tip - which is a joke considering we had no service! I will say the burgers were very good, staff were individually pleasant but overall let down by what should be simple operations for a pub - burger and a pint on the weekend lunch in the garden. I wouldn't hold out much hope for a return visit on a weekend. Shame.

After 2 years of constantly driving past we pulled in on a sudden whim. Had the Haddock with chunky chips and mushy peas with tartar sauce. It was perfectly cooked and couldn't have been better. All washed down with a strong americano and a pint of Guinness. We sat outside facing the river in the sunshine. Staff were very friendly and the service was prompt. Would highly recommend!

Very disappointed at this place as they have an online booking system that allows to book a table so I booked one on Thursday afternoon for Sunday lunch and got an email saying booking is not confirmed and then on Friday an email saying the booking was cancelled.I understand that it can be challenging for a restaurant to manage bookings and I am sure that some other bookings go through just fine but sadly, this was not our case. Also, if this approach is used, sending emails of non-confirmed booking, what are we supposed to do as consumers? Make many bookings to different places just in case something goes wrong? Many places have booking cancellation fees so it is not a viable option.

A pleasant meal, but was disappointed to have a creme brulee with no brulee... Just the creme. And no explanation/apology offered when it was served. Rather over priced (relative to quality of food and service) too, I felt.

Very enjoyable meal, had the pork loin and have to say the crackling was exceptional. Plenty of food, well cooked and very tasty, jug of extra gravy without having to ask.

I used to go regularly to the Trout at Tadpole Bridge but with lockdown it of course stopped us visiting. Today I managed to go with my wife for lunch, well all I can say is how dissatisfied I was with the food. I ordered crouton polenta with a pesto dip only to get four inch size pieces and the dip was dill based, far cry from pesto, £6.50 what a joke. My sausages and mash, dried up and tasteless. Wife’s meal was a piece of salmon, about the size of an average person’s palm with loads of chips, £25 which is a lot of money for “pub grub”. I really am disappointed as we had a birthday party there 2 years ago for 40 people, not only was the food fantastic but the service and staff were brilliant. They certainly need to get their act together before I venture back there. Oh and if you want a decent burger, which they used to do then don’t ask as the new version is a vegan one.

One of the worst meals we've had in a long time, so disappointed. I had rump steak, which was tough as old boots and although I asked for med rare it was very rare. Not worth sending back to cook more though, as I could barely chew it anyway! The peppercorn sauce had completely split, and our side of veg was over microwaved. My husband's burger was very, very rare as well. Uncomfortably so. We wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't so expensive for what it was - we paid nearly ÂŁ70 for a meal we only half ate and hated. It's ruined our evening, wish we hadn't gone. But all we can do is warn others - avoid!

Really lovely, cosy pub. Food was really nice, had a burger and some brownie bites for pudding (which are literally bites).Unfortunately the waitress we had serving us on Tuesday night was very rude. Rolling her eyes when taking our order, not polite or friendly, slammed the bill on the table and walked away. Just not very helpful at all. Hopefully just got her on a off day but there was no need for it. If you work in hospitality, you have to be a nice and polite person (or at least pretend and make it convincing!)

Such a lovely pub in an ideal spot on the river. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient both in the large garden and in the pub bar. Water was provided for our dog in the bar with a smile. The food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the black pudding starter. Prices were a touch on the steep side but still, if we were in the area again, we would happily revisit.
