After having a drink poured over my leg with nothing more than an apology the food took nearly an hour to arrive and was cold when it did arrive, it also tasted as it had been stood for a while. Roast potatoes were hard and red cabbage tasted like it had been reheated several times. The staff did apologise and removed the cost of 2 meals but it was not a good experience. My daughter had fish and chips and it was obviously burnt, when they asked the chef to replace them the response was that as they were waxy potatoes they always burn! Not sure that is correct.I would not recommend this as a venue for food and I will certainly not return.

We went here for food this past Friday night. We were a group of 4. The pub is nice, warm and cozy. Dining room is spacious and comfortable, not too busy. But the food is where the real problems were. We ordered cheesy garlic bread for the table to start, this is easy to get right? wrong. Soggy basic ciabatta with a big sad blob of cheese. Imagine a student making this for you with minimum effort. But I suppose it was warm and tasted of garlic. The mains took a long time to come, but finally they did. I had the Fish and Chips, It was overcooked and dry apart from all the oil that the rock hard batter had absorbed. Seemed like it was deep fried, left standing and deep fried a few more times. So greasy and a dark shell of batter that I had to dig through to find the fish hiding in the corner of the batter. The chips were completely dry as well. So my meal was a complete bust. My partner had the only veg option on the menu which was the cauliflower dish. She said it was lacking flavor and seasoning and...something, it looked decent but completely underwhelming and she was disappointed. My parents had the steak pie, which looked like a standard cooked from frozen pie you get in the supermarket which my dad said left him bloated until late the next day. My mum's fried fish (why is everything fried?) looked okay and she quite enjoyed but she never likes to complain. I had onion rings on the side, but OMG these were the greasiest lump of nastiness I have ever had. They couldn't even be separated from one another. I can only think the chef, if they have one took the night off and they reheated his food from the night before. My Parents had been here once before and wanted to take us, my guess is they wont come back and I definitely wont be back. For sure skip this place unless you like greasy overcooked food. ergh gross.

Feel very fortunate to live local to this pub, the food is really good and the pub itself is a gem.

The chef here is amazing! Their cook is as great as good restaurants in London or Paris. I tried their Sunday roast Wiltshire loin steak and it is top notch. Nice place, nice staff. I have to thank them by this review.

Most amazing gastro pub food I've had the pleasure to taste in Oxfordshire. Will be back again for sure!

This has to be the best value great food in the area. The food is consistently excellent at very reasonable prices. An interesting menu with thoughtful and creative dishes on it, all cooked really well. Gastropub doesn't do the food justice, it's a properly nice restaurant but at pub prices and in a lovely old pub setting where the actual pub part is still a real part of the esablishment. Waiting staff are always really friendly as well

Nice and cosy, amazing steak and truffle mash potatoes. Animals welcomed!

Nicely renovated and redecorated. Food disappointing. Stale bread with smoked salmon sandwich and tepid chips. My colleague had so-called club sandwich which seemed to be a collection of leftovers. No apologies. Also one young member of staff had jeans covered with paint.

The rest of the party really enjoyed the food but I don't really eat red meat or fish so not good. Last time I was there I had the mac n cheese as a main which was really good but would like to see à chicken ďish on the menu! Had a really enjoyable èvening though!

We had a lovely lunch time meal in garden on 22nd April. The food was very good and the the G&T perfect. The staff were pleasant and helpful. As yet the garden is not the most attractive lunch place in the village, but I am sure they will get round to smartening it up. The present management have not long taken over,
