The hotel was lovely but rooms were very dated and a bit dirty. The staff were lovely and friendly, although only 1 on breakfast so was very busy. Lovely location.

Came here with my boyfriend, went for a walk round the trail, stayed in the hotel (room was cute AF) and had drinks and dinner and the staff were lovely. Food was good value pub grub and drinks good value too. Would definitely be back.

Just popped in for a drink but ended up having a meal, great food and drink at reasonable prices. Will definitely be visiting again.

Rooms are clean but very tired. Needs a complete make over. Staff attentive and friendly. Give it a makeover. It would be spot on xx

Lovely old building, full of character, few minor things would need updating, but it doesn't spoil the experience. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly *****

We checked in at the hotel without a booking as we had no electricity, heating , Wi-Fi at home after storm Eunice. Staff are very friendly, multi-tasked and helpful. The feeling is wonderful staying in a warm room, having hot shower and having hot meals served. The hotel is very dated. Signs of on going renovations. Hope it will return to its glory in the very near future.

Just popped in for a meal on way home from a family gathering. Food was quick great quality and good price. Add to that polite team and plenty of space . Great place.

Staff at Reception & Dining area are friendly. As mentioned in previous reviews, It is in need of renovation, furnishings are dated. Had an awful damp smell as you went through the corridor from Reception to the rooms, was as well using masks which made it a bit bearable. Glad I brought my own pillow as the one on my bed had yellow stains, however, all bed linen & towels were spotlessly clean.....CAN'T EXPECT 5* WHEN IT COSTS UNDER £100 PER NIGHT FOR 3ppl INC. BREAKFAST which was very good👍 we were only there for 1night.

Very disappointed, in other years the Christmas work dinner was at this place, very good food, hot... this year, hmm, I don't know if they changed chef, but it was very poor served for the price charged. Main course was roast turquey, apart of the vegetables that were served cold the rest was warm... wasn't enjoyable...My starter was chouriço, very well served with two dips, the dessert was gorgeous.Staff was very prestative, but when they start bringing the food they should ask first if we was ready, i know we had table booked fot 8pm, but is still good to ask and not deduct and start the service...

I’ll start with the positives, the staff although grossly understaffed and overworked are really friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy. However 10 minute wait to check in even though there was a member of staff talking to builders in the ramshackle room to the left that greets you on arrival. Going through to the rooms there is a musty smell throughout the area very dark and dingy walk along ground floor corridor. Room large but dingy underlit with chintzy lampshades and what must be candle strength bulbs, room was ok but lots of smear marks and didn’t feel like it was proper clean and the curtains old and heavy seemed to smell like old socks. However nothing prepared me for the bathroom hopefully pictures can be uploaded. Breakfast was farcical after 1 hour 25 minutes I stonecold breakfast came out enough was enough. I could go on but it would be unfair. In my opinion, close the hotel leave the pub open and refurb, fix the issues and decor paint the plastered walls and buy a proper extraction for the kitchen, Saturday night the complete reception/ bar area smelt of fish which I guess was on the menu. A big shout out to the staff who dealt with the issues for all the guests at breakfast even pitching in the kitchen 1 cook for a full occupancy breakfast. Hotel could be so much with effort it’s lovely location and rustic appearance hide it’s sad decay £89 a night it’s not, price point should be reflective of facilities etc
