The Gorge Restaurant in Waverley

The room was beautiful! Lovely underfloor heating in the bathroom, and really well themed. It was easy to control the temperature, and room service was quick and very tasty! Thank you to all the staff there who made it such a pleasant expereince! I would love to return!

Where do I start. My wife stayed here the day before our wedding..she’d asked for a nice car to take her to the registrar office..(on the wedding day in her dress) and Citroen Berlingo turned up. Not one word of congratulations from the staff.Day after wedding we go home in a rush a realise we’d left wedding dress in room. Calling reception and they didn’t believe us,said they’ll call back but didn’t. We got there and after a while a very helpful maintenance man (Mathew) worked out what had happened ..he was the calmest person there. It had gone to the laundry. (The horror). When we complained to the manager they said “they have lots of special occasions so they don’t offer congratulations to people “. We had paid over £600 for two nights and had to pay extra for parking,this wasn’t made clear when booking. Avoid this place to stay as the standard of service at hotel reception is better at the Holiday Inn. Restaurant and bar staff are very good though. The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’ve complained twice and only got fobbed off. AVOID

Amazing view but the service let everything down.I am sorry but when you know you have a amazing location, nice food why employ such poor quality stuff.I had better food service to a cheap restaurant then here.Thank you but I will not return any time soon

My wife and I booked in for the weekend, and although expensive, it was worth it. The hotel is located right next to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and gives a fantastic back drop to the stunning views. Parking is at a premium behind the hotel, and few and far between at the front.

Stayed in one of the junior suites for a weekend (Lallier) which was beautiful. We ate in the hotel and enjoyed every meal we had. We were greeted on both days at the restaurant by a lovely Spanish lady (sorry I didn't get her name!) who was attentive and super helpful. The only downside was that the suite it is in a separate building with tiled hallway that goes directly outside so when the room opposite made any noise it echoed loudly - each time they closed their door it sounded like someone slamming our door it was so bad. If you're a light sleeper, avoid that room, but I'd definitely stay again!

5 star view - 3 Star Facilities - 1 star service - like other reviewers, our experience was very underwhelming, and not what we expected from a Hotel Du Vin (although we have since heard the chain has gone down hill). The most disappointing part was the staff, who were clearly poorly trained and everything seemed to be too much for them. Go for a coffee to admire the stunning view, and then stay somewhere else.

Great views from the main hotel. Steer clear of the junior suites as they're a good walk from the main building and down steep, slippery stairs.

We came for a weekend away and our first time in Bristol. Although the view and decor is nice, it definitely isn't mind blowing. We were up till 1am on the first night listening to neighbours playing techno. Couldn't get through to night reception after calling a couple of times frustratingly.For the price paid (over £500 for 2 nights) the rooms don't include robes, decent coffee or breakfast. Overall impression is that it's over priced and you pay for the view.We did have a lovely experience in the bar both nights where the friendly bartender fed our dog treats and made us delicious drinks.

We ate Sunday lunch in the restaurant. The food is lovely and the portions are large, and of course, the view is fantastic. However, the whole experience was let down by poor service. The staff simply didn't bother to serve our table short of taking our initial order. We had to ask for plates to be cleared, to see the dessert menu etc. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, and by the end was pretty much empty yet we were still not receiving service. This is an easy thing to fix and would make the restaurant a very enjoyable place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Lovely outdoor terrace with a great view over the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Food and drink is a little on the pricey side, but was of exceptional quality, not a single scrap left on the plate! Plenty of space outdoors as well, have managed to get a table without a reservation even on busy days. Toilets were looking a little dirty, although I could have just timed it in-between cleans. (Gents usually are!) Definitely recommend on a sunny summer afternoon.
