Callenders Restaurant in Wealden

Today we had our Sunday dinner as a takeaway from Callenders. It was absolutely fantastic! There wasn’t anything to moan about in-fact the complete opposite.Thank you so much for the beautiful and very tasty lunch!

First ever visit, staff were very attentive and polite. Service was very efficient. Prices seemed very reasonable. I had tried to find some information before going about whether they were child friendly and couldn't see anything! So they had a high chair and offered my children colouring pencils and paper, but there is no childrens menu (my children are 2 and 3) so would not eat or appreciate an adult meal, luckily they were happy to bring an extra plate for my children to share an adult main, but not alot on the menu suitable for them.

We had pre-booked for 8 of us on a Saturday night. Very friendly staff and food was really nice. I had the steak and Kidney pudding and it was excellent. Prices are reasonable as well. If you want a nice meal with a friendly atmosphere, then give this a try.

Very young inexperienced staff.I have to say the meal was not great. Two of us ordered the mixed meat I ended up with hree slices of beef and a very small portion of Turkey.Yet we were still charged for the mixed roast. I am not a lover of meat especially beef so left two slices. The turkey was tough and left. The vegetables were delicious. The gravey was a water texture a little thin for me although that is personalpreference. Staff were not bothered alternative offered

I have had the profiteroles before, but today's were exceptionally wonderful. I had brisket and my partner the garlic mushroom chicken the vegetables were really fresh and perfectly cooked. It is always very good at Callanders, but the chocolate sauce on today's profiteroles was exceptional. Apparently the cheesecake was really good too.

Callenders has been on my door step for years. I have had many pints in the Grenadier opposite and walked passed this restaurant many times without giving it a thought.The truth is my subconscious mind had discounted it and prejudged the place. I was convinced that it was somewhere that I would not enjoy eating in. I certainly would not have booked a table there myself. However Saturday night my wife had booked a table for the family, my heart sank a little bit when she told me where we were going, however what a fool I was. The restaurant was clean well decorated and had a pleasant feel to it. All The staff were very friendly, efficient and talkative a lovely young lad primarily looked after our table. The food was piping hot and fantastic. The service fast and efficient. Our family had a wide choice of food from their menu and there was no complaints. It’s the best meal I have had for sometime. I have been missing out. I will however rectify that going forward and will be returning.

We have travelled to the area from Wales to visit a family member who recommended this restaurant and brought us here for food. We had an amazing evening. The food was amazing, couldn't fault a thing. The lady that served us was fantastic. Possibly the best service I've ever received, she couldn't do enough to make our experience special. My partners brother has disabilities and learning difficulties and left most of his food. We explained to the lady that the food was fine but he is a very fussy eater but she took his meal off the bill anyway.They couldn't do enough for us. They clearly love what they do and care about their customers. When we come to the area again we will make sure we visit this restaurant again. Thank you for an amazing experience. We all thoroughly enjoyed.

Our first visit to Callenders certainly won't be our last.The waiter was attentive & very professional without being over much.The food was freshly & superbly cooked not reheated as you find in some Restaurants.Local produce is used.We have eaten in Restaurants in the West End of London & New York & Callenders is easily as good.

Attended a private function for christening today. Excellent food, good choice of drinks and the staff were brilliant. Attention to detail was wonderful and made my little girl very happy 😊

I go with my wife to this lovely place quite a bit! This is the best place to grab a bite. I go there regularly. The cooking is of high quality, the crew is welcoming and the prices are good. I enjoy meeting in this spot to have a rich meal.
