Asked if the did plain cheese sandwich she said yes so paid for it then this turned up. Tried it and its not plain cheese and my mouths now burning. I went to ask again if this was def the plain cheese she said yes. I said its not plain. She then said not it has mustard in it. So I was miss sold and she refused to rectify the situation. Avoid

Lady, believed to be same as lady before me describes in her review (purple haired, American lady). Very rude. Mask exception and told me under no circumstances would serve someone without a mask. Clearly in the wrong line of work. Just wanted a takeaway coffee, was happy to order from 10 metres away if she was worried!

As a disabled (wheelchair using) customer, I am absolutely overwhelmed by the outstanding customer service I have received at Harris & Hoole. I go to the Shoreham branch because it is a safe space for me. I have unfortunately been witness to shocking behaviour from some customers, who disregard the legal requirement to wear a face covering when not seated (either because they don’t care; or they don’t think the law applies to them). When you wear a face covering, you are doing it for the sake of others - not yourself. Despite being triple jabbed, I am still at a higher risk of contracting COVID. For all prospective and current customers reading this: please wear a mask when required to. You will be doing me and the staff a huge favour. Also, DO NOT harass or abuse the staff because they are firmly following the law. Abusive behaviour not only damages the well-being of the staff, but also disrupts the customers. Thank you.

Always the best coffee at Harris and Hoole! Yes, it's a bit more expensive than other coffee shops but you get what you pay for!

American lady wouldn’t serve me wearing a mask. Said not required in a cafe. Still wouldn’t serve me, so not giving them my business. Very rude service from officious member of staff making meaningless rules up

Dreadful service, American lady very rude and on a power trip! Didn’t stick around and spend my money as would rather spend it somewhere with better service. Will not be returning.

Terribly rude manager - I barely stepped foot in the shop, exemption lanyard round my neck, and instantly got yelled at by a purple head women, telling me to put a mask on. Not a “hello” not a “please” not a “excuse me”, she literally yelled at me and disappeared for 10mn.When she reappeared, she proceeded to clear tables, yell at the poor chap dealing with a line of customers on his own, then trying to fix a faulty grinder by plunging her hands down the coffees grains. Then clear more tables, move a gentleman’s trolley out of the way, touched her mask a dozen times and not once, NOT ONCE, did she wash her hands. Lady, if I can call you that, before you dare yelling at those who essentially pay your rent, you might want to retake your food and safety certificate, they can teach you a thing or two, covid or no covid. What no-one can teach you however, are people skills. And considering previous reviews, what is this power tripping dragon still doing there?

Went there today, really good coffee and had a cheese toasty which was great. The tall chap with the glasses and the blonde girl in the were excellent, they were going 100% all the time though and people were being a***h***s occasionally. I don't know how just the two of them coped. Hats off to them, I hope they are getting good money is all I can say.

Awful service by the American lady with blue hair, presumably the manager. All that could be heard throughout our coffee break was her voice, bossing people around. She was polite to us on a surface level with an undertone of firmness, asking to see my phone to prove I checked in, as if I was at Gatwick Airport going through security. I work in hospitality myself and I'm aware the track and trace is mandatory and staff are required to enforce rules. However, the majority of customers were between the ages of 60-80, I felt so sorry for them all being ordered around by this woman when all they want is to sit and relax with a coffee. There are much kinder ways to ask people to adhere to regulations in a way that doesn't make them feel unwelcome. She was barking at them over where to stand, where to wait, where to sit, when to sit, etc. I watched a group of people leave, after clearly becoming frustrated with her. She called after them "okay BYYYYEEEEEE", clearly frustrated herself by whatever it was they said to her. If you're reading this, you'll have a much nicer, happier, stress-free shift and you'll get a far better reception from customers if you treat them kindly as your equal, rather than trying to herd them all like cattle. As for the coffee, the milk was beautifully textured but the espresso tasted a little over extracted. Kudos to the barista still though, he was alone on the machine getting drinks out quickly and efficiently. 10/10 for him.

Nestled between trusty M&S, McDonald’s and Tesco in Holmbush Shopping Centre, you wouldn’t think such great coffee would be being brewed. But clearly you can’t judge a coffee shop by its location! Great drinks menu and mouthwatering treat selection. Who doesn’t need a caffeine/sugar spike after a big shop?!
