Sussex Country Gardener in Wealden

Very busy as usual. Nice food, prompt, friendly service. Good coffee. Garden centre well stocked, as well as the shop. Nice place for lunch or breakfast, and a wonder round.

Lovely place, great cafe but some plants are very expensive for what they are.

We had my mum‘s 90th birthday lunch at the cafe11 of us arrived at the Cafe and were given a very warm welcome from Hilary and Claire, there was a lovely relaxing atmosphere looking out across the Sussex countryside.The food was amazing with lots of flavour it was impressive and really delicious they even cooked a special chocolate cake from my mother, The staff were very polite and attentive and every need was catered for well done Hilary and Claire and the staffThe Cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and very cosy, we will definitely write them five star for everything truly amazing thank you so much this is our favourite go to spot as localsMy mum‘s brother has already decided he wants his birthday there

We have been going here often for years because it is so close, and because it is a reasonably well stocked garden centre. It is notably more expensive than others in the area. In general it deserves more than one star.However, I spent an hour earlier filling a trolley with goods and was then unable to pay for them after a gaggle of rude / lazy female staff decided to close the tills and refused to reopen them when we came to pay, at most 3-4 mins beyond closing time.On the one hand, we were a touch late. On the other:- We had been there for an hour and there were staff everywhere, passing us and standing alongside us only seconds earlier, none of whom indicated we should hurry to the tills- There were no other announcements that the centre or the tills were closing- There were other customers circulating and also trying to pay at the till, who were also turned away- In the past, friendlier staff have reopened the tills and been charming about it (including a gentleman who may be the owner or who was the owner at the time), so it is certainly possible- The staff who turned us away were not only useless but also rude, especially the older woman who just walked away from us.Clearly this is a rage review. However, we were treated churlishly by a business where we spend many hundreds of pounds every year, the staff were revealed to be idle and unfriendly, we wasted time, and out to spite, I will now have to spend longer driving to garden centres further from home (at least for the next few months...). All in all, a perfect moment to waste a bit more time and dish out a one star review.

In the restaurant we waited a few minutes at the order point where we were studiously ignored by 4 members of staff that walked past us. I appreciate they were busy - either understaffed or inexperienced staff but a glance, smile and quick greeting to say , for example, sorry were really busy, someone will be with you in a minute, would have gone a long way. This is the second time this has happened. Pity-we like to support local businesses,

Nice place to visit for those who like gardening. Nice restaurant. We had tea and coffee and cake. Plenty of parking and reasonable prices.

Good range of merchandise... Food, gifts etc... And some plants too. Cafe quite disorganised and expensive. Cake was dry... Wanted to send it back but companions didn't want the fuss Cappuccino was lovely.

I like this place as it has a very nice restaurant so you can get a decent lunch or fresh cake before having a wander around the shop and the nursery. They have a nice range of gifts especially at Christmas. There is also a pet shop on site which specialises in aquatic plants and fish plus all the associated equipment. Well worth a visit. There is a large car park and although Sussex country gardener is very popular I never find it too difficult to find a space.

There is so much to see at this garden centre. The displays ate colourful and well set out. I found that the Halloween Grotto was the best. From what I have seen in other garden centres (which, quite honestly has been extremely poor to nothing at all) this garden centre had surpassed itself. Well done.
