The Anchor Inn, Hartfield in Wealden

The Anchor Inn staff were my saviors when everything within twelve miles of Gatwick Airport was booked. I got in past nine once the kitchen had closed, but they made me a meal and served me a drink without hesitation. The “Pooh” room was astounding. Clean, comfortable, and homey, with a modernized bathroom that would astound you from the rustic outside of the inn. Service at breakfast was top notch, and I left the inn wishing I’d booked a few more days. The Anchor Inn is a hidden gem, book it if you can.

For food...5 stars...especially the gluten free pie. Sadly they were struggling with waiting staff who were very lacking.

Brilliant atmosphere, we went on jubilee Thursday- live music, lovely atmosphere. Lots of space outside.

Stopped off on the Thursday of the Jubilee holiday, for a hog roast bap and hotdog and wasn't disappointed. Loads of pork in the bap, along with extra apple sauce and really good crackling! One of the chefs, a young lad called Rob, came out and made sure that we (and others) were enjoying the food. Nice touch...

Super friendly staff, absolutely brilliant beer garden, and delicious caesar salad. A favourite stop when out for a walk in the area, one of my favourite villages too.

Nice pint after a long ride. Clean and welcoming and the bar staff were polite and chatty.

Went to the anchor today in Hartfield For a Sunday dinner, The customer service was absolutely rubbish you had three girls behind the bar talking to each other about last night what was on Instagram…. If I went to the bar once I went a few times … Too got a menu and tell them we only had two chairs around the table instead of three , no salt and pepper on the table when our meal finally arrived two of the meals came out, And we had to wait for the third, Very bad customer service and the meal wasn’t great either won’t be eating there again

Wonderful pub and staff.Great layout and decor.Food is very good indeed with a good selection of beers.It will become a regular for our business meetings (with beer and lunch of course!)

A great pub. Big selction of beers, real ale and new style IPAs. Foods fantastic. We had our wedding reception here and we were really well looked after. Staff are brilliant. Great walks nearby. Would really recommend
