The Blue Anchor in Wealden

We booked here for a relative's birthday party. We couldn't book an outside table, they are first come first served. The kids play area looks like set dressing from the walking dead.The food was... Below average. I had the pork belly, which came with what appeared to be irradiated soggy carrots. My wife had cod and chips. Hard to get that wrong, right? No. By some feat of culinary butchery the fish managed to be both wet and powdery at the same time, and overall just tasted like the colour beige.Less said about the halloumi the better.I do not recommend, even out of perverse curiosity.

Dog-friendly and friendly pub that welcomed us and our 2 Border Terriers. We really enjoyed our visit and lunch of fish and chips, definitely now on our list of go-to pubs.

The blue anchorPub review from a young manAs pubs go first of all this is a solid choice with a large indoor area for food and drink accompanied by a impressive beer garden with plenty of room for children to play about without coming too close to others.I must say a rather strange bar layout however this is forgiven for the selection of bevs which is plentyfullI do have some gripes but this is due to my personal opinion and not to be seen as a big negative the name of the pub hints to the blue tone and it definitely lives up to the name.With it being by the road this does create a background soundtrack of engine and road noise however the pleasant sound of people having a nice day out is louder.The staff where very nice and even though the head on my pint was rather on the big side I would not hesitate to come back here overall.Smoking and dogs allowed in garden is also a bonus.7/10 solid

Had a baptism here. They were very accommodating, helped me with all the decorations so I didn't have to worry about anything, the food was delicious and our family and friends loved it. Beautiful venue, great staff and lovely outdoors area that the children had a blast exploring. Thank you! We look forward to coming back for dinner sometime.

We visited as a group on a sunny afternoon with a new baby and a dog - we felt very welcome! The staff were lovely and even gave our dog a couple of treats.The vegan options were delicious! We ordered the Laksa, Cauliflower Wings, Mushroom Kiev and some Chunky Chips. The presentation and flavours were both excellent. Would definitely return in future when visiting our friend in the area.

We had not been to the Blue Anchor for a number of years but selected it today to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Well, what a lovely experience that was. We were seated in the conservatory overlooking the A26. There may have been traffic on it but we could not hear a thing! The varied menu choices would grace many a high class restaurant at reasonable prices. The food was delivered promptly, very well cooked and enough to know you have had a really good meal. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and were another reason to make us bring the restaurant to the top of our lists of favoured places to eat.

8 for lunch long wait for food but all agreed worth it. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Look forward to visiting again.

Swift and friendly service. Decent vegetarian risotto. The skate wing (fish) come a bit too salty, but the friendly atmosphere and well maintained garden easily make for the best pub around Crowborough.
