Treacle Mine in Wealden

Just had a meal at this place which is frankly grotty. The dark-haired waitress (didn't get her name as they weren't wearing name badges), came straight over & asked if we wanted to order. Didn't take our drinks order first. Didn't bother to ask if everything was ok after our food arrived. She even tried to clear the table before we'd left! Another waitress walked past us with two big bags of rubbish. Not a very nice place. Not somewhere we'd go by choice anymore. Staff need training.

Visited here today for Mothers Day and I must say I was very impressed with the food and the service. Staff are very attentive, polite and not pushy whatsoever. Food was very nice indeed and well prepared and cooked. I will definitely be coming back.

Went for dinner with my partner and 3 kids at 7pm last night. By 8pm no food had arrived so I had to go find a server to ask. Come to find out the kitchen changed the ticket paper just as our order was put in so it got lost. Honest mistake and the staff were genuinely sorry about it and offered to comp the children's meals.Food arrived pretty fast after that but I had to get up several times to ask for ketchup, more drinks, and a dessert menu. Mildly annoying that I kept finding staff standing at the end of the bar chatting.I was ready to chalk it up to a bad night but then I woke up at 4am with the unmistakable signs of food poisoning. Will never be going back.

Took my 2 kids here for something to eat, the food was fine, couldn't fault it. However my son came away with food poisoning. Being sick all night and the next day too. So, I put it down to a dodgy burger he had there. I don't think we'll be going back there anytime soon.

Not happy with this place at all. Used to come a lot with my family before lockdowns and since restrictions have been released i have been twice and let’s say have not been best pleased and don’t think i’ll be attending again. First trip was with my in laws for her birthday and the waitress (Victoria) said she insisted she didn’t write down our orders (order of 6) ad she has a ‘good memory’ she got 2 of our meals wrong so clearly not as good as she thinks. The second time i came was today thought i’d give it another go and we had the same waitress who again hadn’t learnt from her mistakes of not writing it down. We ordered a chicken burger and came out with a beef burger, after challenging it she came out and said they don’t have a chicken burger and after pointing it out she then comes out with a chicken burger ! i’m not one to moan as being in customer care myself is difficult but apologies aren’t difficult and go a long way so hence the review. I get mistakes happen but an apology would have been nice, luckily my girlfriend just doesn’t like beef would have been difficult if she was allergic to it ! Of course as well i don’t expect discounts at all but maybe a free drink or one of the meals given on the house would be nice ! The food has gone downhill as well today i had chicken goujons and they come out with 3 burnt chicken goujons for £2.49 could have done a better job popping to co-oo across the road and buying a pack and cooking it myself for cheaper. Let’s just say don’t think i’ll be coming again and i definitley think Victoria should invest on a notepad and pen, it will help a lot and doesn’t make you look “less cool”

Food was disgusting, took like an hour to arrive to our table, maybe even longer, service was good but also it cost like £300 for a group of people. I wouldn’t waste your money, time or tastebuds here. (Sorry not sorry.)

Very welcoming, friendly,service was excellent, food was of good standard. Nothing to much trouble. Thoroughly recommend. Plenty of parking. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Very clean.

The staff were very friendly. The food was very good nice and hot. Had a great time. There was a lot of food we had to take our pudding home. Many thanks to the staff a great Christmas dinner. See you soon

Had lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon here. Hadn’t booked but was invited in by a pleasant hostess. Had cottage pie which was freshly cooked and very good. Quick friendly service considering how busy it was. Would highly recommend.

First time visit, genuine friendly welcome, following covid guidelines and procedures. Fantastic service, clean well presented pub restaurant, food cooked to order. Our breakfast arrived together and hot, good quality products used. Noticed a couple of other people with accessibility needs which didn't phase anyone, plenty of room for all. The lady who serviced me was brilliant and the chap who checked my reservation for tomorrow (Kane) was spot on too. Look out chef, we'll see you at 10 !
