Uckfield Fish Bar in Wealden

The fish batter was very thick and soggy and the chips had a bitter after taste....either oil needed changing or possibly chips not fresh enough

The food was all stone cold when it arrived. The fish batter was not cooked properly. The food that was edible was completely tasteless. When I contacted the shop, the response was dismissive, short and rude. There was no care that their food was awful.

Don't waste your money! Chips were stone cold, batter wasn't cooked, and as for the staff... Well extremely rude and unhelpful! You would get a better meal from McDonald's.

Wouldn't recommend, only got a lunch deal cod and chips and the cod had a hard rubbery piece down the middle, it was bland and the batter was soggy inside. Didn't enjoy it at all, bought a sandwich immediately after.

Great service, seems like a family run buisness... But, Chips were pretty much cold, pie luke warm, batter on cod was horrible, clearly shop Brought.Very disappointed to be honest Uckfield needs a decent fish and chip shop.Advice, turn up fryer heat so the batter actually crisps, don't wrap food until all food is ready to go.Make homemade batter for you fish.And yes I have experience catering.

Awful undercooked chips. Sausage had been cooked and reheated 100's of times. Maybe my worst fish n chips experience to date. Horrendous

Food was OK 👍 fish looked great but had a soft and buttery batter which was a little gross. The chips were very tasty if a little soft and the mushy peas were spot on. Service was OK, it did take a while but they warned us of that and what with everything as it is at the moment I don't hold it against them.

Pleased to find somewhere open during the lockdown, so placed an order over the phone and was told it would be ready in 20 mins. Hubby duly went to collect it but the server didn't acknowledge that we had placed an order, so began cooking the fish from that point. I will say that the chips were excellent, hence the 2 stars, but the fish was tasteless and the batter was lamentable. Sad to say we won't be trying them again.

Avoid like the plague!! Happy cod has definitely lost its food standards. Chips are soggy and the mushy peas are cold tasteless and runny. Ruined my evening will definitely not be returning. Previous owners were much better.

This was the worst fish and chips I have ever had! The fish batter was thick and orange and the chips were under-cooked and soggy. The meal went straight through me and my wife was unwell for 3 days after. DO NOT BUY YOUR FOOD HERE!!
