Excellent staff and upmarket decor in this newly refurbished establishment but sadly the food does not measure up . I ate here when it first opened and my lunch was excellent, since then it seems to have gone downhill. Whether this is due to problems with the chef or lack of training I don't know but it should be sorted out as we were really pleased to see it opening in Speen, but unless there is improvement we will not be returning! We expect better from the Grosvenor Group!

I can't knock the enthusiasm of the staff they were great as was the venue. We had the fixed menu £49.00 sharing, starter, and desert..... lovely. But Unfortunately the main meal we had was not the best. We had the lamb, some of the portion was just cooked. I shared my lamb with my wife as hers was rare. The roast potatoes were poor. Will try again, but will keep away from the lamb.

An absolutely faultless stay. Renovated and reopened in January 2022, the rooms are gorgeously decorated and extremely comfortable. The bar/restaurant didn't miss a beat all weekend, with delicious dinner and breakfast both days. And most valued was the hospitality - we had our dog with us and every member of staff went out of their way to be kind to her and make our lives easier at the same time. Really brilliant weekend.

Wow. Just had an amazing lunch. Although it was only off the sandwich menu. It was totally delicious. I had the salt been and hubby had the hot salmon. Both came with fries. The homemade horseradish came with the salmon. I have never had such a nicer horseradish before. I ended up eating hubby'sOverall the meal was outstanding. Filling and totally worth the money. The staff are attentive. Polite and very welcoming.Thank you

Our first visit here on route to Wales. Having reserved in advance we stopped for breakfast and a coffee.A fantastic venue with efficient and attentive staff, all friendly and nothing too much trouble. The food was excellent, arrived quickly and very tasty. A good breakfast menu and choice of hot food or pastries and yogurts. Eggs were especially good with deep orange yolks. The venue itself was immaculate. Recently refurbished there was a whiff or paint on entering. There were many homely features and the obvious hare and hound quirks (note the wallpaper and pictures) laced with horse stable and barn structures. There is a modern but homely charm to the bar and restaurant with leather, wood and fires aplenty. As well as indoor seating there is an abundance of outdoor seating with heaters and sheepskin rugs.Besides food and drink there are rooms available which again look fresh and modern again with a horsey theme.Visit, enjoy the service, food and drink and maybe a stay over.We look forward to dropping in again soon.

We visited on our way to the Vineyard for the weekend. The staff were so welcoming, they took the trouble to show us around and even showed us the rooms. No issues with taking our dog into the bar, they supply dog beds, water & even a treat. The food was excellent. It was that good, we called in again on our way home for lunch.Certainly no complaints about the food. 3 had the Chicken & ham pie, all agreed it was lovely. I had the fish & chips, the batter was amazing, thin & crunchy.Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Visited today with my family for lunch. I had the Venison Cottage Pie and it was superb - enjoyed every single mouthful. The service was second to none - especially the lovely French guy who kept checking we were okay . Haven’t visited since this gorgeous place has been renovated and it was totally awesome, beautifully done and as a Scot I really appreciated the beautiful touches such as the tweed cushions and the huge antler ceiling lights, oh and I loved the wallpaper and just opposite where we were sitting was a gorgeous lamp with a Hare as it’s base…. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful personal touches. All in all, a wonderful experience. Great food and wine in amazingly beautiful surroundings - superb and attentive service… first class! Thank you!

Popped in here on our way to view a potential wedding venue and the staff were kind enough to show us the rooms available in case we would like to book them for guests - they looked gorgeous! The food in the newly refurbished bar was fantastic too (particularly loved the sourdough and butter but the triple cooked chips and sausage roll were excellent too). If you have a dog the place is perfect with dog beds and bowls by many tables. The staff are all lovely and clearly excited to have the place back open after their refurbishment. We’ll definitely be back if we’re ever back in the area.

Newly refurbished. Great decor and a comfortable atmosphere. The food was tasty but they made some mistakes with our order and my daughter, particularly was not able to enjoy her meal as a result which took the edge off our (birthday) meal. However, they did apologise and removed two of the main courses from the bill.

Had a wonderful dinner this evening at the Hare & Hounds; the refurbishment is fantastic, staff were excellent and the food was great. Impressed by the prices as wellThoroughly recommended. My wife had lunch there earlier this week, and she was raving about it, so we now have a new "local" and restaurant that we can use regularly
