What a wonderful gem of a place! We stayed at the Hind's Head for 3 nights whilst in Aldermaston for a wedding and we would happily return in the future - hopefully to find the current team still in place! The staff were not only polite, they were friendly, attentive and extremely helpful! The food was also outstanding - excellent range of choices on the menu, perfectly cooked and beautifully served! Our breakfast was included with the room and catered to all tastes - from fresh fruit and pastries to cereals and toast or a range of meat or vegan cooked options... again, always served promptly and cooked perfectly. Our room was cute but really spacious and included everything we could have needed whether showering, ironing or relaxing with the complimentary London Pride ale.Would we recommend this place? Wholeheartedly! Whether you're just looking for somewhere to pause for a meal with the family or looking for a comfortable stop over, the Hind's Head and its staff are more than worth a 'Hello!"... but don't take our word for it - definitely check it out for yourselves!

Overpriced and average. We stayed in a really nice room but quite expensive (£130ish for a night!) with breakfast included. Breakfast wasn’t great. Other people were served before us despite us being there first. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our order and we had to ask someone if we could actually order food. It took about 50 minutes to get to us and with next to nothing on the plate. The chef also forgot to give my partner a tomato. The poached eggs tasted like rubber I was convinced they weren’t actually real eggs. Overall really not worth what you’re paying.

My first time st The Hinds Head, this pub is surprisingly spacious on the inside much nicer than your average pub. The staff are friendly funny and take the time for a chat. The food was excellent I fully recommend the fish pie.

These are not necessarily complaints; just observations that I think should be noted to improve future service:We arrived at mid-day on a Sunday to a virtually empty restaurant and were told the menus had not yet been printed. After eventually receiving them, we ordered five roasts; one of which was for two infants to share. We asked if that could be processed quickly as the children would not want to wait too long to eat. This was acknowledged, though evidently not acted on.We waited an hour before all five meals arrived at the same time; long after other later arriving guests had ordered and received their meals. We were constantly asked if we wanted more drinks which we felt was a stalling response to the food's delay. Once it arrived, the beef was quite gristly and chewy in places and some of the vegetables were undercooked. The price for a standard beef roast at ÂŁ17.25 is very expensive, considering that extra side dishes of stuffing, pigs in blankets, red cabbage etc. were an additional ÂŁ3.50 each for very small servings. On the plus side; the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was ok. The children were supplied with crayons and colouring sheets.

We really enjoyed staying at teh Hind's Head, the room was specious, well equipped and clean, there were also some great touches such as dental packs and a jar of biscuits etc. The beds were comfy and the staff were welcoming and friendly. All-together a very enjoyable stay and we will certainly be booking again.

Lovely pub. Being a local I try and go to support when I can. Staff are really nice and food is great.

The food was okay but the service was abysmal, for multiple reasons. We sat down for Christmas lunch at 1pm. We didn’t get our dessert until 4:20pm. Clearing courses from our table and brining the next one seemed to be an hour long process between each one. They didn’t bring out a starter for my partner. We then had to bring that to their attention. The server then came to our table with a piece of paper to check… he then came back with a different starter to the one she ordered, put it in front of her and said “you’re lucky… I nicked this one from another tables order.” Like she should have been grateful to be given the plate? We had three small children with us. And they brought out canapés, and then starters for the adults before we had to say “where are the kids meals?”, as they were expecting them to wait till the rest of the mains came out…. 2.5 hours after we arrived!!! No thought whatsoever there…The food itself wasn’t bad, but to say it was anything more than mediocre would be a lie. Some of the veg was undercooked and inedible. I don’t think the long wait between each course helped the experience. When we asked our server for an explanation for the long wait, he said “I wish I could tell you.” What kind of a response is that? This pub seriously need to work on their table service and customer service skills. They can’t even use that they were particularly busy as an excuse as they weren’t. You couldn’t pay me a to come back.

Our booking did not get off to a good start as we arrived at the time we thought we'd booked which was noted by the hotel as 2 hours earlier! We were shown a table in the main bar, ok. We found the service was very slow and had to ask if we could order after 30mins of waiting. When the food arrived (Roast beef dinners) the plates didn't & we had to ask.The food was also not very hot and we were missing serving spoons, yorkies and horseradish sauce. Having said that the taste was good and there was plenty of it. We both thought the beef was overcooked & a bit tough. A couple of deserts were not available so I plumped for a mini brownie which was delicious and the best part of the meal! Overall, an average experience at best.

The rooms are very pleasant, nicely decorated and very clean. Comfy bed and good shower. We had a lovely dinner in the pub, the food was very nice and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was great too. Dog friendly which meant our dog could accompany us. Very food value for money, would definitely recommend. Even better than I thought it would be.
