Hungry Horse - The Wee Waif in West Berkshire

Last few times we have visited the food has been awful, went today and the chef somehow managed to burn the outside of the food but keep the middle frozen! I don't know if the chef is new, but the food never used to be bad! It's a shame!Also, food came out and the waiter spilled my boyfriend's chips over the table and didn't say a thing. The man that served us was nice but other than that I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Surprisingly good for a hungry horse. Clean with excellent service and the Saturday evening £9 mixed grill was most excellent. I'll certainly be back soon

Took the kids here for dinner. Really warm welcome by Debbie! Really enjoyed the stay here. Food was lush. The pub was clean. Really recommend and definitely be going back! The menu is cheap pub food. Great for fussy kids. You get what you pay for and we were really happy with that 👍Thanks Debbie!! See you soon!

Possibly one of the best nights sleep we've had while away for years! Plenty of room to park. Friendly receptionist, huge very clean room. We stayed on a Friday night booking on line with there own website. This gave us a special March promotion price of just over £50!!!!! Including breakfast. We eat in the popular bar in the evening choosing a burger meal each only to find it also had a promotion of Buy one get one free. My wife choose the Green plant based burger which looked bizarre but she really enjoyed.Yes the carpets were threadbare and the furniture in our room was damaged but everyone was so friendly and the place was spotlessly clean and for the money we had no complaints 👌

Very nice pub, with a great atmosphere, serving good quality pub grub, and with top service from friendly staff 👍🏻 Nothing was too much trouble, and all of us enjoyed our meal. Very reasonable final bill too, and so would recommend and will definitely return! 🌟

Having eaten here probably hundreds of times in the past, this was our best visit yet. Food was all cooked properly, service was efficient and pleasant. For the money, I would find ot hard to complain.

This is part of the Hungry Horse chain, so is all about utterly enormous meals that don’t break the bank. What makes it though is the superb staff - one Waitress has been there for years and years, and honestly is so welcoming she’s actually the reason we keep going back. We have 9 in our family, 7 of which are growing boys so this is a good place to get all ages together for a dinner. Easy to reach from the A4 behind Woodley and Sonning, so about 10 minutes outside Reading, good parking as attached to a hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights a nice comfy bed good size room tv , tea, coffee plenty of hot waterRoom furniture was a bit wornBut for what I paid for a 2 night stay I was happyA good breakfast cereal ,yougut ,fresh fruit,pastries and cakes and juiceFollowed by a full English with a choice of eggsWe also had a nice steak and chips in the restaurant on the Monday nightNice friendly and helpful staff during the stayThere are alot of workman that stay at this hotel so you may hear them from 0600 going off to work vans starting up there vans early morningOverall we had a good 2 night stay nice food and we will stay again in the future

My husband and myself went there for our Christmas lunch.Food was amazing, large servings we both left with full tummies.Staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us.I would definitely recommend this place for Christmas lunch or food at anytime.Thank you all and we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We visited for dinner today my partner and 2 children. Since last visit the food has improved a great deal but the best thing of all was being served by Debbie and Luke! So attentive and keen to ensure we were happy. Superb with the children. The staff made this visit an outstanding one. Thank you Debbie and Luke!
