A lovely old inn. Very cosy inside with lots of nooks and alcoves. Excellent choice of real ales mostly from the local Innformal brewery but a couple of guest ales as well. Food is very good. I enjoyed the steak and ale pie and the chips were excellent. Very friendly staff. Car park is not extensive but probably OK most of the time for a town centre pub. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was pretty busy but there was a large group from a running club. There is also a heated outside area.

I was delighted on my visit to the John O’Gaunt I had a chicken and bacon club sandwich and let me tell you when you are hungover and need some skran this sandwich will bring you back to life, it was made to absolute perfection. Who ever made that sandwich is an artist who will go down with the greats, should have one in the tate.

Service very friendly and accommodating. Nice ambience. Fish n chips bland unfortunately but pie n chips very tasty. A bit on the pricey side so would have expected better food quality for the fish. Will return again to see if it was a one off. 16/2/21

Incredibly friendly, great selection of ales and ciders (they do 1/3 tasters too). Food was excellent, huge portions and consistently great quality.

The staff working Saturday 11th December where amazing they turned a ruined day for our family in to an amazing evening, they went above and beyond to make me, my wife and more importantly our children feel so welcome, they kept chatting to them all evening and even let our little boy take some bits form the Christmas tree. Then to top it all off the food was great, a real quality local pub

Very nice welcome, child tolerant and some very good value and quality foods on the menu. We ate well with a number of small cheap dishes, and thoroughly enjoyed the warm outdoor spaces. Thank you very much.

Beautiful pub in the centre of Hungerford but the garden makes you feel like you're in the middle of the countryside. Fabulous friendly service and delicious decently priced food. Great selection of gin. Would recommend the ribs!! We'll be back. Thanks for the van assistance 😊
