The Hatchet in West Berkshire

Brilliant breakfast for little cost. The big breakfast was yummy and the toast was perfectly crisp. Pancakes for my wide were amazing. We both loved our visit. Well looked after and very well presented.

The senior management team have done a splendid job with this oneGood size frontage terrace and a larger rear one. Clean inside with plenty of opportunities for privacy.I had a Ghost Ship low alcohol due to driving.I can imagine that this one thrives on most Saturdays especially when the racing is on

The staff were lovely and the food was ok - however, it had obviously been quite busy throughout Sunday lunch as the place was quite untidy so not very inviting for afternoon dinner/tea 😒

Cheap but awful food. My sister had to ask 2 for her soup to be warmed up. My chicken burger and chips weren't very hot and tasty funny.

A very wet and windy Sunday evening after the races. Large friendly pub with as always good value food and drinks. Where else except for a supermarket can you get a bottle of wine for £6.99!!My wife had a jacket potato with roasted vegetables and I had a beef Madras which was flavoursome and hot.Quite busy for a Sunday, would definitely recommend.

Very friendly helpful checking in staff. The rooms are lovely warm rooms, amazing shower, comfy bed. Good quality towels and bedding. The sparking water was a lovely touch and they had a good selection of coffees and teas etc. No vegan milk however I was very excited to find they do tubes of oatmilk downstairs now!!!. I did find the lack of toiletries disappointing I didn't take shampoo conditioner as they are always supplied and there was only body wash supplied but if they are avoiding single use plastic I approve but they could have another wall dispenser. I do think it's a con that you don't get breakfast included but they make it clear that it is extra. Our room overlooked the main Street and there was music playing at 12:30 am when we went to bed. I was woken up shortly after by lots of shouting when a club closed then by a car alarm after that but as it is a period building I doubt they can have double glazing. I would stay here again all in all it was a good experience it's a lovely quirky hotel rooms all over the place.

Absolutely filthy.A few months ago it was all about keeping surfaces clean to maintain public safety. Now, this Wetherspoons simply can't be bothered. Over half the tables were unoccupied during our visit, but all disgustingly dirty. Old food, spilled drinks and not once in the time we stayed there did we see anyone clean a table.

So this hotel is not bad and ticked a load of boxes such as quality towels, clean shower and nice white sheets. But if you have an issue with mobility this really isn’t the hotel for you.The reception is on the first floor which is only accessible by stairs with all rooms on either the first or second floor. there is no lift and although there is a sign at reception if you have mobility issues you can call my experience would say this isn’t a access friendly hotel for those who can’t walk up the stairs.It should also be noted that the ladies toilet is on the first floor it’s so if you are visiting the pub for drinks and food that may be something you want to take into consideration. There is of course a disabled toilet on the ground floor if needed.We had room 205 on the second floor which wasn’t massive but was on the whole clean the shower was hot and powerful but was missing a Lance (wasn’t part of the shower) which is a shame for those who don’t want to get their hair wet, they did however supply shower gel and hand soap the towels were nice and fluffy and the bed all be it hard was comfy. There were a couple of unsightly stains on the divan part of the bed which was a bit of a shame but otherwise couldn’t really find faultWe had breakfast at the pub on two occasions and have to say the service was very very quick and the food was very tasty and you simply can’t fault the value for money. The beer and drinks as always are as you would expect with Wetherspoons fairly priced and lots of choice.So some useful information, if you do not have the Wetherspoons app and want tableservice you will have to sit at the front of the pub at the staff said they do not do waiter service at the back. If you are coming by car you will have to park in the car park at the rear of the pub which is chargeable 24 hours a day seven days a week. As I said earlier in this review access to the hotel is By means of the stairs and always always ensure you have a confirmation email before you arrive as my friend had three rooms booked but only a confirmation email for one and the hotel sold out so we had to go and stay at a hotel down the road.

Nice place great atmosphere. Food was very good, large portions for the price. I really liked the staff they are super friendly and helpful. Would definitely come here again. If you are visiting or live around the area. check this place out. I believe you will like it.
