The Lock Stock & Barrel in West Berkshire

We had lovely time at The Lock Stock & Barrel. The atmosphere was great, drinks were good. The place has a beautiful decor and outside sitting area is absolutely fantastic! Best views from a pub in whole Newbury area.

clean and modern bar however extremely over priced for £7 a pint! The bar staff were so great and friendly (joe was amazing and so great). Sadly I am unlikely to come here again as there are very similar pubs in Newbury at half the price for the same quality.

Fantastic pub by the canal in the middle of the high street by the little bridge. Well organized, could not fault the staff, all of whom provided a great service, quick polite, friendly, happy, and genuine. Food (roast) was amazing, hot, tasty, perfect and plenty of it. I don't often rave about a pub but this has it all, even canal side dining. A real hidden gem. Been back several times always great service great staff.

This used to be one of our favourite pubs to go as a family in Newbury.However, yesterday one of the bar staff was extremely rude to me. Therefore, we changed our minds to eat there and went somewhere else.I am deeply disappointed and it is a complete shame as the rest of the staff are very friendly.I will not be returning.

Steak was pretty much the best I’ve had in the UK so far (including proper silverware that allow you to cut into meat without a struggle), cooked exactly as a rare steak should be however I would have enjoyed it much more if the kids noise would have been reduced and the background music increased (obviously a parent problem there). Waited for more than 40 minutes for two dishes to come out knowing that the table was to be free within an hour and a half from arrival. Dog friendly pub with nice seating view outdoors towards the canal.

What a lovely situated pub on the river Thames. Lovely decor and really nice staff. But wow. What a let down with the food. I wouldn't even serve this in a school for free. And the price wasn't cheap!So much potential, ruined by not looking after customers but charging a fortune

Nice roast dinner and good roof bar for the last of the summer sun. They were a bit busy for Sunday lunch, and the at table ordering service thingy only worked sporadically.

What an absolute rip off.Being a landlord I am always interested in what other pubs charge.I have seen dash of mixer from 40p to 80p but this pub takes the p*** £1.20 for literally a dash could not have been more than 15mm of coke on top of the malibu. And as you will see from the receipt it's including vat at 5% not 20%BUYER BEWARE

Ok so If your looking For a very pleasant place for quality service great food and polite staff this is the place to go.If you live anywhere near Newbury its in an ideal location set right on the river by the lock very pleasant Indeed 100% worth a visit on a lovely sunny day.

Pub well set out with information and staff welcoming. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating. All ordering can be done from your table, and delivered quickly. A good experience.
