Stayed there before. Basically good but my last visit marred by teenagers running up and down the corridors shrieking, shouting and swearing and not a member of staff to be found. We didn't pay for that nights stay after repeating our complaint to the new receptionistThe lift was not working during our two night stay and neither was our extractor fan.Needs a new manager?

Attended funeral afters, staff very pleasant, food was very nice too.

If I could give 5 stars for the night manager Ian I would; he went above and beyond his duty to make sure a very difficult and embarrassing situation was averted and I was able to enjoy the day. No thanks to the receptionist who forget to book the taxi. Ian saved the day by making sure I arrived at my destination safely and as fast as possible.I was surprised the hotel is 4 Star however it was smart, clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. All hotels should have an Ian and I hope the Mercure Group realise what a top Night Manager they have in Ian.

Went for a wedding . The staff were amazing they went above and beyond. Food was lovely . Soft drinks at the bar were a bit on the pricey side £3.30 for a j20 !! Room was a decent size and clean. Although a bit dated in areas. Also there was a fan of some sort that went on and off all night and kept us awake

Five stars room, kept to high standard just as much stayed in a another mainstream hotel chain. Telly, tea, coffee, shower, phone charging points, on suite. In quiet location, staff helpful, with bar restaurant very popular, thanks for good night rest.

Attended a charity evening & didn't stay the night, but first impressions are it all looked very nice, & professionally run, great staff. The hotel is in a nice setting on the edge of town

I recently stayed at the Mercure with work, being a 4 star hotel I expected good food and a good bed, the reality is you pay the price of a 4 star hotel and receive neither. Upon going downstairs the bar area looks nice for a picture in which they can advertise it as a 4 star hotel but when looking closely it’s in need of some TLC. I had to wait 50 minutes to order dinner in a restaurant that was mainly empty, one staff member who finally took my order was really nice (this seems unfair on her as she was on her own whilst another member of staff was on his phone at the bar) when I asked him if I could order at the bar I was told to sit down, I then waited another 40 minutes for my chicken meal which when cut into was pink, I alerted a different waitress who quickly swept it away without saying anything, luckily I was able to call her over and say I no longer wanted the chicken I would prefer if I could change to a cheeseburger, this was met with no response and I waited another hour until the first waitress came over, apologised and actually got me some food. Will be requesting a different hotel next time.
