Burford Lodge in West Oxfordshire

We called at about 4pm on the night we wanted to stay to see if they had any rooms available. They did. We arrived about 30 minutes later, and were warmly greeted. The owner was very knowledgeable about the area, and suggested a few places to eat that evening. The hotel itself was perhaps a bit dated, but we quite like that. The room was spacious, and although near the main road, the double glazing did a good job of keeping the noise out. Breakfast was good. Hotel has a large spacious free car park. The hotel is not in Burford but about 10 minutes walk away, on the edge of the town, at the top of the hill.

After being let down by original hotel, this place is a gem. Owner happy to show us rooms before we committed. Lovely night in huge room plus breakfast was great. Short walk to Burford down hill. Highly recommended

Not worth a single star. Not as advertised. On checking in advised no food as no chef!!! We left after 15 minutes. Room and bathroom dirty. Declined to refund us. If offered a free room, we would definitely not stay. Will never return

I give it 4 stars because the service and breakfast was excellent. The bed really comfortable. But, the deco could do with some serious attention. It could also benefit from some deep clean with attention to detail. The price is very reasonable and I would go again, but really does need to address these points.

Characterful rooms. Decent breakfast. Very helpful staff. In these challenging times, the service we received from the only member of staff we ever saw was faultless. Ample parking. Triple glazed windows for quiet night sleep. Easy 10 minute stroll to Burford high street and country walks. Convenient location for A40 to drive around Cotswolds.

Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed an extra night all in all great value for money. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast portion exceptable and toast was hot. If you dwell on the negatives you'll never leave home. Nice to be able to travel again. Would stay again.

Outside appearance of garden and car park not good but wonderful Chinese owner cannot do enough to make sure your stay is as comfortable as it could be. Very high standard of cleanliness. One word of warning- some of the stairs are steep and furniture could do with update.

Made very welcome very clean and pleasant room,good breakfast. Ideal location for our visit, noisy road situation advise ear plugs not something the host's can do anything about.

We checked in for bed & breakfast, payment taken on entry. We knew, due to covid, breakfast would be in the room. However, the room had one chair & only a small dressing table! We were given a breakfast menu on arrival but when we chose cereal & juice were told they had none. There's a co op down the road, go get some! We just paid over £100 b&b!!! The room was dated, mould on curtains, paper peeling off walls. I took pictures. We left the same night but nobody to spk to as staff had gone. My husband sent email complaining but no reply & no refund! Do not book! Totally awful place!!!

We stayed here for 1 night as a couple in the winter view room which has an amazing 4 poster bed and also a giant jacuzzi bath tub.The owner was fantastic, we had an absolutely delicious authentic style Chinese dinner and the breakfast was excellent. I stay in a lot of hotels and this one really felt like a relaxing break.5/10min walk to town. Free parking.Will 100% stay again if in the area.
