Fleece in West Oxfordshire
Where is Fleece?
🏠 Fleece Hotel, 11 Church Grn, Witney OX28 4AZ
"The Fleece overlooks the expanse of Witney’s beautiful Church Green. Since we took it over ten years ago it has twice been voted one of the top twenty pubs in the UK. Loyally supported by the people of Witney we are one of the few places in town where you can sit outside on sunny days, eating, drinking & watching the world go by. We also have a private dining room for meetings or parties & 10 comfortable en suite bedrooms."

Spent an excellent weekend staying at the Fleece for a wedding. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed a couple of delicious meals during our stay. The staff were all very friendly and attentive - I would highly recommend The Fleece to anyone wanting a good meal in the area and to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Witney.

I recently stayed at The Fleece with 5 friends for the weekend. The Fleece is wonderfully situated on the Green in Witney. The rooms were spacious clean and very comfortable. Food was excellent and the staff could not have been more attentive, polite and fun!!A venue not to be missed!!

Stayed here for a business trip. When I arrived I had to wait about 10mins to check in but this was understandable as it was very busy. Joe checked me in and he was warm, welcoming and apologised straight away for the wait. He explained everything about my stay and directed me to my room. The room was lovely and larger than I thought it would be, views out to the front and the bathroom was spacious with a large walk-in shower. The food in the evening was lovely and as was the breakfast next morning. The staff were all very helpful and polite. The only thing missing was a pack of biscuits to go with my cup of tea in the room. Definitely will be staying here again when in the region for business or pleasure.

Ate here on a Monday evening, place was really busy, quite a few of people eating were obviously staying here too. Both of us had the burger which is a fav of ours here, delicious. We both had the cheesecake with boozy cherries, again delicious. I had a large merlot & a martini espresso, friend just had a mocktail. Service was efficient & friendly as always. Ps the espresso martini is one of the best i have had & i have tried lots!!

A lovely venue sadly unsupported by the quality of the food served and unfriendly staff. Always a fan of a big breakfast I ordered the full English. Mushroom and tomatoes were undercooked, black sausage was overcooked, pork sausage was dry and tasteless and eggs were over seasoned while my toast was swimming in what looked like olive oil. This was also the most expensive breakfast I have had in Witney. My tea was lukewarm and served with smarties, what on Earth is that about? We were welcomed by a waitress that seemed to disapprove of us for some reason, to the point that both of us commented on it when we sat down. Perhaps we can just write it up to a busy Saturday morning, I suggest you try during the week when it is quieter.

Update:Were contacted by their manager who asked us to return. This time the whole experience was fine. Back to the usual standard!Previous visit:Disappointed this visit, previous couple of visits a year ago were fine! This time one meal was good, the other was poor! The risotto with crab and spinach, didn't have any physical evidence of crab meat or spinach; although there was the taste of crab. The garlic ciabatta appeared as a garlic french stick, the sort you would get at a supermarket.

Just had a great weekend stay at the Fleece, where the service was outstanding and we were so well looked after. The accommodation was roomy with really nice bathrooms.Menu was varied and the food really good quality (as was the wine) great location for walking or visiting oxford.Great love for the peachy pub group, thanks to the manager for finding more lugana at short notice : ) and to her team who made it such a nice experience.

Four of us had a nice lunch. Although my rice was only fair, but the three other meals went down very well. The staff are very efficient and friendly.

Went to The Fleece on 18 February 22 with friends for my birthday and the onion tart was dry and the beef baguette could not be eaten as normal as used the end of baguette and very difficult to eat. Also a mix up “oat” and “cold” milk!

Had a lovely two day stay. Staff were brilliant. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality ingredients. We were so impressed with dinner the first night that we decided to have dinner there on the second night too. Only negative really was the noisy pipes in the bedroom.
