Comfortable and cool in the heat. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The nice walk around the country park lake was not advertised or easy to get to.Food was expensive and mediocre; the chef didn't even know where his ingredients came from. Conclusion: a Travelodge with a spa and a malfunctioning pool.

We had a shocking experience at this hotel as our room was entered in the middle of the night, it was, 4:05AM and our lights were switched on while we were sleeping. When we shouted the person who entered our room ran off.We complained about this the next morning at reception and they came up with all sorts of excuses. One Bering that maybe a guest had arrived late and entered the wrong room which does not make sense nobody really arrives at 4 o’clock at night, also they would not be able to enter the room. It is doubtful if they would run off when confronted. Then they said maybe it was the security guard that checked on the room. But again if they wake you up they should apologise and make themselves known to you.The other thing they suggested was that it could have been a burglar, the hotel having had incidents of people using cloned door cards. This also did not make us feel very confident in the hotel security, or safe! Another customer was also complaining of the noise made by a pool party the staff had that night which finished 4 o’clock. So we think it was one of the staff trying to find an empty room to sleep as they turned on the lights and made no effort to be quiet. How the hotel can then think it’s better to let you think it was a burglar then to just admit it was one of the staff I do not know.We did ask the staff to find out what had happened and let us know but nearly a month later we have neither heard if there was a conclusion to the investigation or if indeed there was an investigation at all.We did get in touch with hotel chains management, but they also have not bothered to reach out.It has left a mark as we now place a chair behind the hotel room door every time we stay somewhere. The Hotel is average as was the food. Everything looks faded and tired. Staff don’t care. One of the weird things was that the bar was actually busy in the evenings a lot of people sitting there having a drink, quite pleasantly, yet the staff every night, even on a Saturday night, decided to shut everything at 10 o’clock. The shutters went down and you could not order a drink and The staff just left all the guests alone in the bar. The bar staff did not seem properly trained (they could not draw a decent pint) and the customers seemed to be an inconvenience instead of the reason for them being there. We shall not use this hotel again.

In keeping with earlier posts we found this hotel tired and dated. We stayed three nights. Due to traffic issues it took us twice the time it should have to get to the hotel. After check in and unpacking we went to the bar. I know food and drink is going up but £16 for two drinks seemed excessive. We also booked the brasserie on the first night. Again very pricey for the portions served up. I rarely come away from a meal I have paid over £40 a head and still feel hungry. For the remainder of our stay we did not spend any more money in the hotel. We had a ground floor room but sleeping was an issue because of proximity to the A40 and being on a roundabout with the traffic noise. Also the tea and coffee tray had one wrapped biscuit on it - there were two of us in the room! Miserly or what? The pluses for this establishment are the staff and the breakfasts. I see they have a market for reps and tradesmen but if you want a base in Witney for touring as we did then look for another hotel.

What a lovely hotel. Reception staff were really helpful and friendly. The manager let my husband store his triathlon bike in the office overnight, which was very helpful. The bar staff were really good, the food in the bar was excellent. Our room was clean, and had everything we needed, bed comfy, fluffy towels, tea and coffee. Lovely view from the window. In the morning we had a lovely pack up breakfast as we had to head out early to Blenheim Triathlon. We loved the contents, fruit, pastries, sandwiches, yogurts, drinks, so useful for us. We would definitely love to stay again. Thank you

Good hotel with bar, restaurant gym, pool and steam/sauna facilities.Good rate, good breakfast.Overall, well worth using if you are in the area or need somewhere to stay if going into Oxford.Only niggle was the room was functional but on the smaller side, and no power sockets by the bed.Overall, we will stay again.

Stayed for 3 nights for well needed R&R. The hotel was clean and tidy and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Special thank you to Dylan who looked after us in the restaurant and bar during breakfast and dinner; a very helpful and pleasant young man who made our experience all the better. Also a special thank you to Kristina; my surprise massage was exceptional. My reason for giving 3 stars was the hotel needs updating/renovations especially the Spa area but otherwise I got my R&R

Welcoming staff were unfriendly, double beds in room were 2 singles put together, shower was very low pressure and shower curtain so close to you it keeps touching you, breakfast was average, poor noise insulation in room meant we were kept up by laughing people at 4am... The overall vibe was very dated and generally just a poor experience although I would say we didn't try the leisure facilities and the staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful so I'm giving 2 stars for that. Overall it was a poor stay and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

3 stars seems mean as the staff were lovely, but to be honest I was underwhelmed with the reality, after booking the hotel as a last minute Spa break in Oxford for my wife and I. First of all, the hotel is in Witney, not Oxford (about 20 mins away by car) and secondly, the first room we were given (a supposed upgrade) was, once we got there after a 6 minute walk through the rabbit warren of corridors, super drab and straight out of the 80's. You needed reading glasses to spot the tiny TV on the wall. The sink had a crack in it and there was a repaired hole in the ceiling. The lovely lady on reception moved us upon request. The Spa was an old school indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and broken steam room. With the opportunity to order in a treatment. So not the break I had planned. To be fair we hadn't paid a great deal, but we were under the impression that the 'upgrade and discount' booking.com gave me for loyalty, meant that the hotel was a good one at the original price and a good deal at the price we got. Not so. Just broken bells and whistles. As I said the staff were lovely and the breakfast (included) was Premier Inn standard. So ok. Would I go back? No, was it horrible? No. Just disappointing.
