3.9? Is Google having a laugh? This is comfortably THE WORST pub I have ever been in. It's an embarrassment to Combe and the area. Why does Google insist that you must give at least 1 star when this Pub is a clear candidate for ZERO is beyond me. There are at least 20 far superior pubs within a 5 mile radius, all worth the extra walk/drive.I genuinely believe that not one single review on this page is honest. They are either friends of the owners who are duping the public or they are reviews of the wrong pub entirely. For a start, they do NOT have a Chef, they have a Landlord who thinks he can cook. But he cannot even heat up frozen bites that have been laying around in the freezer for god knows how long. The food is terrible. The beer on draught is not any better, kept for too long, isn't drawn enough and the pipes must never be cleaned. They are open randomly, but if they are open you are greeted with "We are closing soon" before you even get a hello (well you dont actually even get a hello). If its such a hardship for this guy to run a pub then why is he bothering? I feel embarrassed for the locals that they have such a poor pub in their beautiful village. For someone who knows what they are doing this could be a gem of a pub, a real hub of the community, sadly this shower do not have a clue. Terrible food, terrible service and I would gladly challenge ANYONE who thinks otherwise considering the plethora of options in nearby Woodstock, Hanborough, Charlbury and pretty much all the surrounding villages/towns.

Friendly staff, good ale. A typical country pub

Nice village pub with welcoming hosts, good beer and a delicious Italian sandwich . Barman Nick gave us great advice about local walks. Would recommend. Hoping to return for one of their Sunday jazz afternoons

Friendly pub serving great food and beer; already planning my next visit!

Cutest English pub right on the sweetest village green in Combe. It is the perfect pub to rock up to for a lovely homemade food, ale and friendly staff. The sporadic live music on Sundays out the front really adds something to the whole atmosphere. No pretence or bravado, just good. It is about a half an hour walk through fields from the Combe side of Blenheim Palace Gardens.

If you live in the village and don't mind buying overpriced products when it's too far away from the other shops it's OK but otherwise avoid it. Maybe 2 stars would be more appropriate!

Lovley village pub, would definitely recommend. Plenty of places to park in the village, where we stared an AA walk to Blenheim Palace Gardens. My friends ordered food, which was reasonably priced and I'm told very good. Landlord put the rugby on for us. Also dog friendly.

What a shame that on a beautiful summer Friday evening at 7:15 PM the landlords could not be bothered to open despite it saying OPEN on the website. As this is not an unusual occurrence, one wonders why the landlords continue to not open their business rather than selling it to someone with interest and enthusiasm. The pub really detracts from what is otherwise a lovely village.

We pre-booked lunch for a walking group of 5. On arrival we were told there was no Sunday roast as we hadn't requested this on making the booking! This must be the only village pub that doesn't! The alternative was a limited menu. We ordered starters and main courses both of which took ages to arrive. Food wasn't overly impressive and quite pricey for what it was. We collectively were very disappointed and won't be returning.

Such a lovely pub - we booked a table for 12 for a walking group then turned up with 19 and the owners were really nice about it and made sure we were well looked after ever though we were a massive table and just two of them working. Also the pub is in a beautiful setting on the green at Lovely Combe
