The Rose & Crown in West Oxfordshire
Where is The Rose & Crown?
🏠 3 Bridge St, Shilton, Burford OX18 4AB
"The Rose and Crown is currently going through a kitchen refurbishment, we hope to be back serving food by April, 2022. The bar remains open on, please call for bar opening times. The perfect “haven” for beautifully presented food, ales, wines & a warm welcome. Situated in the heart of the idyllic village of Shilton, two miles south of Burford, in the glorious cotswolds. The rose & crown is that “perfect pub!”. Dating back to the 17th century, it is a traditional cotswold stone inn, with original beams and a log fires in each of its two rooms. In warmer weather, customers can enjoy the charming gardens. Well supported by local residents, it manages to combine being a friendly village ‘local’, as well as a destination food pub."

Thank you for such a lovely night, the food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. My wife and I arrived a little early for our reservation for a table of 6 with our parents arriving soon after, my wife is currently on crutches but the lady behind the bar didn't hesitate to bring over another stool so she could put her foot up and was incredibly attentive all evening without being obtrusive. The food was proper pub fare done extremely well- flavour and execution five stars, the fit out was cosy, clean and covid conscious and most importantly the ale was excellent! Thanks again, we will definitely be back if you'll have us.

We had a very good lunch at The Shilton Rose & Crown last week. The menu had quite a few options for all tastes from the starters to desserts. Sadly the restaurant was not full, due to peoples concerns about Covid. We would most certainly go there again.

A proper unspoilt English pub. Good ales, good food and lovely atmosphere. I have many fond memories of drinking there 40 to 45 years ago when I lived in Carterton. I've lived in Exmouth for past 40 years and have only gone there a couple of times. It was still as I remember it. Congratulations to the landlords/ladies for keeping it like that.Peter P

We visited here this Sunday lunchtime after a long walk from Buford caravan site. What a lovely pud and wonderful friendly staff, that made us feel so welcome. Was only planning on a drink, but the food looked so good. So we asked about a table as we had our dog with us and they were busy. Nothing was to much trouble for them, I had the roast beef and my wife had liver and bacon and both were lovely. But the puddings were fantastic, one of the best meals out we've had in a long time. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, which makes it even more enjoyable. Not sure if we enjoyed the walk back to the site. Definitely would visit again 👍

Great gastro pub. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Busy but several shifts and long lunch time. Decor tasteful. Fair price. Village charming so if you have to wait you can enjoy a pleasant wander around. Charming church over the ford which has a footpath and then up the hill. Parts are Norman.

Fantastic pub, fantastic food, fantastic service. Owner seems a really lovely chap, I honestly couldn't think of a way it could be improved! Will definitely come back if ever nearby

Lovely quaint Cotswolds pub. Amazing food, ale as fresh as if it was straight out of the brewery. Puddings to die for. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend and will be returning when visiting the area again. You should book a table, you won’t be disappointed.

Called in here on a bit of a trip down memory lane. Parents used to come here (with me) in late 60's/early 70's. We had a drink and a meal which was superb. So I still have good memories of this lovely old pub.

Beautiful old pub/restaurant, open log fire which made a fantastic ambiance whilst we had our meal. To start we had venison pate which was too strong a taste for Mt liking but you don't know these things until you try something new. The steak and ale pie was glorious with mashed potatoes and seasonal veg which was hot and delicious. The two gentlemen serving were courteous and attentive and looking forward for a revisit.

We had a wonderful Father's Day at the Rose and Crown. The Pate starter was the best I've ever had. The roast beef lunch was perfect. Thank you so much.
