Black Dog in Winchester

Took my mum and mum in law for dinner today, had a lovely meal. Very tasty and well presented. My mum in law was taken ill and the staff were super attentive offering as much help as needed. Would definitely recommend here, we will be coming back

It's a pleasant pub, nicely decorated and with a good garden, but the food was rather mediocre and I wouldn't go back there to eat. Fine for a drink though.

We booked our Valentines dinner at this pub because we live nearby. What a disappointment! There was no sign of anything different from normal with regard to decorations, no table decs, not even a red serviette, no atmosphere. Considering this was advertised as a prebookable event it was a great disappointment.The food was nothing special considering the prices being charged. Overall poor standard.

Fabulous food very busy for a Monday, which is good to see, my dad and i had the steak n ale and mushroom pie fabulous so tasty and loads of steak,my mom had cod loin with fresh veg which she tells me was fabulous also, staff really friendly highly recommended

I love this pub. My favourite on the menu is the steak beefburgers with blue cheese, and the onion rings are to die for! Great service and very friendly.

Good atmosphere - cosy welcoming place. Food good. Staff friendly. The only downside was that the food took a bit longer to arrive than was comfortable - 45 -50 minutes. They were clearly short staffed. Booked for 12 noon, food arrived by c. 12.50pm and by this time the pub was quite busy. Visited on 8/12/2021.

The food was good, and the staff friendly and helpful. Had to wait a bit because they're a bit short staffed, but the waitress brought some crusty bread when the wait for the main course dragged out.The bar seating area looks just as well appointed as the much larger restaurant, which is down some steps and is not dog friendly.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast here today. The staff were incredible! Very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone at the Black Dog.

Great place to eat and very friendly staff. 12 of turn up unannounced but they cleared a space outside and looked after us for the rest of the evening. So good we came back on the Sunday.

My wife had a beef Sunday roast, she said it was average. I had the pulled pork bbq bap, this again was only average. The Black Dog beer however, was very nice
