Quick stop with the puppy and girls after dance to get cheesy chips and a drink. Lovely staff, nice environment, dog friendly. Decent garden, cosy nooks inside.

We used to go to the Dolphin every year or so pre-pandemic, so this was by no means the first time eating at the pub. However it was certainly the most disappointing, as the food quality appears to have gone downhill since the last visit (not to mention the specials board of âask your waiterâ translated as âno specialsâ).Two of the party had gammon, egg and chips, which they seemed pleased with, but the other two, myself included, had the battered chicken burger, which was bland. There was a lot of chicken in it, however the bun was dry and the token bits of lettuce and tomato didnât really add much. The accompanying coleslaw and fries were quite nice, however. For dessert, two had the chocolate fudge cake, which were okay, and I had the lemon meringue tart, which was rather nice. The apple crumble, however, lacked crumble and had only a small amount of crumb on the top of a lot of apple (which could easily be seen through the crumble).I now add that the food choices werenât necessarily what half the party wished for to begin with. One ordered the cod and chips, only to be told the last one had been just sent out (this was at perhaps 7.30pm on their fish and chips Friday), another swapped out their chips for sweet potato fries only to be told they had no sweet potato fries left, and come desert, the sweet-potato-orderer was let down again when the waitress returned to say that they were out of the chocolate brownies they had asked for.Understandably, sometimes restaurants do run out of certain items. However it turned out the tab hadnât been changed to reflect this, and the group was charged for the sweet potatoes and brownie they didnât have. At the time the bill payer didnât spot these mistakes and only noticed the following day when double checking the receipt, however generally when an order is charged, itâs expected the tab is altered appropriately. All in all the food was passable, and thereâs definitely much worse out there. The servers werenât too bad, as they were polite and friendly enough, but overall it was a disappointing experience.

Really really nice find! Only stopped for lunch but great garden, great service, nice beer and the food was really good. I don't eat coleslaw but I tried it and it was brilliant so I even ate that! I will certainly be returning for a longer visit.

Great for children - good, reasonably priced food for them and a play ground and Wendy House. Nice variety on the menu for adults. Very impressed

Popped in for a spot of lunch when passing and so glad we did! Good selection of drinks and food served with pride in a very friendly and warm atmosphere. Thank you all đ

Lovely ye olde pub. Dog friendly which is good because there are some nice walks round there. Only had a couple of starters to share when we were there but the food was lovely and generous but mot over sized portions e.g. the prawn cocktail has a decent amount of prawns. It was a covered outside area but this looks like a smoking area. Decent sized garden with lots of seating. Most importantly, clean loos!

Popped in for lunch today after a long walk on Farley Mount. We had a BLT and bacon, brie and cranberry sandwich respectively. It came loaded with a lovely dressed salad, coleslaw and cornchips. Very filling and delicious and finished off with a pot of tea. A great discovery for us as the tables were well spaced and the atmosphere nice and airy.

Fantastic, friendly, attentive and hard working front of house staff. Who obviously have a great team In the kitchen to back them up as the food was excellent. A charming charactful building, with open fires and a great garden for sunny days. I can highly recommend stopping for a drink or food, and I will definitely be returning. Well done everyone.

Stayed in the b&b and really enjoyed our break away. The room was ideal for the three of us and we really enjoyed the quirkiness of the split level room đ

So nearly had an amazing meal with the kids here.Failed with the blue cheese sauce drastically with my steak , Watery and just dispersed of my steak, but the Steak was lovely luckily.I only put a small amount on, and salvaged the meal thankfully. But the food was lovely and the staff polite and attentive and helpful.Fab location, lovely interior, very welcoming.Would definitely go again and try the blue cheese sauce on the steak just to see if they have perfected it and get 5 stars â¨Definitely stop off, it's a lovely place.
