Shanghai Papa in Winchester

Authentic and very good food. 5 star because I really don’t care about the decor when it comes to food. The food is authentic, very good quality and reasonably priced. The service is good as well. When it comes to food make sure to choose from their special and recommended mains and starters. We ordered the sliced beef in hot oil, pork dumplings in hot chilli oil, the fragrant chicken with dried chillies, prawn and and chive dumplings and they were all really amazing. Will be going there often!

The food took a long time to arrive and is a little pricey. . . but was well worth the wait and the money. Shanghai Papa is by far the best Chinese in Winchester. Thank you for another delicious meal. As always we will be back.

Bad service told 1 hour for delivery, turned up in 2 hours and cold, ordered mushroom curry got raw chicken, probably the worst chinese meal I’ve ever had, don’t waste your money, McDonald’s is better quality meat

Terrible service, lied about delivery many times. Food was average, overcooked.

We did not receive all the food we ordered and paid for. When we phoned up, it took far too long for them to “find” our order before they finally agreed to refund us the money for the missing food. Phone call took far too long as they asked me to repeat my name and address so many times; having worked in a Chinese takeaway, this experience was utterly baffling. Told us we would get the money back in 3-5 days, which never happened, so they basically stole money for food they never sent us. Will not return - shambles.

Went to dine in and it was not a good first impression. The restaurant décor was very dark and dull like the atmosphere. Most of the food on the menu were not available. Some of the food did not taste fresh. And the service was extremely slow. I understand this restaurant is very popular with takeaways and makes most of their sales through there but literally had many customers call in and told that there long list of food orders will be ready in 15 minutes whereas our first dish took 20-25 minutes to be served. But I have to admit that other than the foods that didn't taste fresh like the dumplings and the roast duck, the rest such as noodles and rice dishes was good and tasty and our server was very nice and kind. I felt bad for her as she was the only one working and that could have also been the reason for the slow service. I will order a takeaway from here again but I will never dine in.

Save your money. Just don’t go. All the dim sum is cheap, frozen stuff and the bamboo steamers need a good clean out!Avoid the roast duck noodle soup. The broth is just horrid.I was really hoping to enjoy my visit. The search for a good Chinese outside London continues.

I used to live in China and I love to find a restaurant that serves "real" chinese food and not just food with loads of honey or sugar! I love shanghai papa's food

Amazing Chinese food here! The best dishes that you may only can have it in China town. Highly recommend. Will definitely come back

We've always enjoyed eating at this restaurant, which serves good, authentic Chinese food. But we were really disappointed at our last visit with our family of five. The food was good, but when the bill arrived, we were shocked to find we'd been charged £10 for the pot of jasmine tea we'd shared. We queried this with the waiting staff but were told that there was a charge of £2 per person. Even that seemed unreasonable for a few leaves and some boiling water, but to multiply it by five to make one pot was outrageous. This left a bit of a bad taste (not from the food!) which might make us reluctant to visit again.
