Good hotel, friendly staff & good service but overpriced.

I called to ask for information on booking an event room for a wedding party then followed it up with an email. Never received the promised information, despite being told our preferred date was available. If they can't even be bothered to follow up a free lead they don't deserve the several thousands of pounds we would have spent with them.

We arrived about 6 50pm. Ordered drinks in the bar and were told by the bar staff that as we had ordered a bloody mary we would have to wait til 7pm for the barman to arrive. Not exactly a complicated drink to make.We dined in the restaurant. Food was OK.We don't need the waitress to address us as my friend. We've never met her before and will probably never see her again , so no need for that. Also when we enquired about the catch of the day , we were told it was sea bass , a white flaky fish. Were from birmingham and know what a sea bass is. Overall experience was average.

Exceptional service, lovely food and wine. A very pleasant way to celebrate birthdays

Nice venue in the centre of Winchester. Very polite staff and good service

Location wise, the hotel was ideal. However at ÂŁ249 per night, that was not good value for money, even if it did include breakfast. That said, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Just spent an absolutely lovely Christmas at HDV Winchester. The room was comfy, the food was amazing and all of the staff worked so hard to make us feel welcome.Thank you for making it great.

On arrival the staff were most welcoming. The perfect bottle of local West Sussex sparkling wine would put any bottle of French champagne to shame. The resteraunt was very quaint and our meal was outstanding. I can highly recommend the 50 day aged steak that just melted in your mouth. Be aware it is not Swiss trimmed for those who do not like fat. Will most definitely return to experience the outdoor garden area which looked very inviting. Could not book a table of 5 this coming Saturday for lunch so advise anyone wanting to experience a gastronomical cuisine of outstanding quality to book in advance.

Beautiful hotel, staff were amazing, very polite, helpful and attentive. The room was perfect, warm, lovely and comfortable bed, with very comfy pillows and duvet and an extremely deep bath. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed two nights in a junior suite and if we are honest we were a bit disappointed by a few things. Admittedly we had high expectations but this was given the price tag of £340 a night. The courtyard is really nice and the suites are down a private pathway which is lovely. There’s a wee seating area outside the room but our chairs were missing their cushions. Our room wasn’t checked and/or cleaned during our stay.We went for a drink in the residents bar around 11:30pm and we were told we could have one but then the bar would be closed. We met our friends at breakfast and we were kindly given a table together. Despite being in an empty part of the restaurant the 5 of us were squashed on to a table for 4 so we had to constantly juggle our cups and plates. The cooked breakfast was ok but nothing special. We mentioned these things to the staff member on checkout and he didn’t seem very apologetic or bothered but said he’d pass on to housekeeping that our room was missed. There has been no follow up with us or any no other request for feedback. It was our first Hotel Du Vin experience. We so looked forward to it and I’m sad to say we likely wouldn’t stay again, especially at this cost.
