Walking in I wasn't sure if it was going to be good or not but I was very happy with the service and the food. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I had the full English and it was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. Will 100% go back.

We've been coming here for nigh on 35 years in its various guises and today gave us quick and attentive service but if it were my business I'd want my staff to show me a bit more of what was on offer. The menu looks a bit boring compared with how it has been, and it's lost a bit of its soul

Lovely tea room, nice selection of food, good coffee. Would be lovely to find some information on the history of the building....

Had lunch here at Fred's. The ambience is wonderful. So calm, relaxing and happy. My son had chicken ham and leek pie, and i had the fish pie. Both meals were outstandingly good. We didn't really have room for desserts but they were irresistible. We had pear and caramel pie and the one which was full of caramel and mixed nuts. Totally such a special treat for us. Thank you so much. We will be back again soon.

The Anvil is everything you don’t get from a chain store. Personal and friendly, with really good home cooked food and a sense of community; typical of the atmosphere of a French cafe.Highly recommended as somewhere to relax and take some time.

Lovely little place, cosy inside and also some seating outside Nice staff and good food Front entrance from the street or back from the main car park Was very busy so obviously a very popular place

This is a gem, fantastic breakfast, excellent coffee and specialist wines and spirits. Use the excuse of getting a lovely bottle of rum to top up on a great breakfast. That excuse works both ways! Drop in you won't be disappointed on either.

Disgusted to find that this 30 seat cafe has no customer toilet. I'm pretty certain that is illegal. I had my Great nephew with me and they wouldn't let him use the toilet. He had to be taken out to the toilet in the car park down the street, in the middle of eating his food. Terrible way to treat customers. Won't go there again.

Would you pay £6 for this, awful prices and very pungent smell in the tea room. Costa drink and food for less then £5 don’t make the same mistake I did

We came to Bishops Waltham with the idea of visiting somewhere else for lunch, we knew that place accommodated a gluten free diet. It just so happened that they had a 2 hour wait.We looked online and the first place that popped up with gluten free options was The Anvil. We walked over and were greeted with smiles behind masks. We sat down and were given the menu's. My daughter was almost overwhelmed with the amount of choices. Gluten free quiche, omelette, gluten free bread and a gf bread and butter pudding. Wow.They were so amazing when it came to my daughters request, melted cheese on gf toast, with an egg on top and a chunk of brie on the side.We had such an amazing lunch all around. The quiche was absolutely delicious too. A must for a yummy lunch with great service. Nothing was too much trouble.
