Lovely pub. Nice and warm with multiple log fires. Friendly pub and decent food. If you like cricket, you’ll appreciate all the paraphernalia too!

Fabulous lunch here with far reaching views of the South Downs. Food was excellent. Also next to one of the oldest cricket grounds in the UK, Broadhalfpenny Down.

Great Country Pub with history and good service. Came here on my birthday a few weeks back, highly recommend and food is delicious! Will come again 🙂👍

We recently decided to try another local pub and thought we would contact the Batt & Ball. On phoning I spoke with Gavin a very pleasant and friendly helpful guy. He booked a table giving me as many choices as he could and said he would be on duty.On arrival he made us very welcome and provided excellent service all eve. Including a lovely card from the staff for our anniversary. Well done everyone.

An excellent pub with a good sized restaurant and bar food available. We managed to nab a seat at the large open fireplace, but there are two other open fires besides. Good pint of London Pride. Plenty of other beers available. Garden seating with a broad open view of the countryside, for when the weather is kind.

I booked the Bat & Ball for Christmas Dining as a gift to my mum and dad, from me. A 3 course meal to enjoy together for a change. The pub, as all the other visits there, took the best care of my parents and gave them a memorable night with delicious cuisine cuisine to match. I've received a stream of WhatsApp messages from my mum saying how much they have enjoyed themselves. A worthy gift, to worthy people,complimented by a wonderful team of staff from the Bat & Ball who always exceed expectations. Thank you so much!

A big thank you to the Bat and Ball for hosting our family Christmas meal once again for the second time. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent as was the service - a big shout out to John and Matt who looked after us so admirably.Nothing was too much trouble for them and we all enjoyed their friendly banter. So glad we never cancelled at the last minute. We all felt completely safe and looked after in this present situation.Once again well done everyone. We would highly recommend the Bat and Ball for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.

We visited for lunch last Sunday and what a pleasant surprise! Had not been for a long time and the new management have definitely made improvements. This is a lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately was previously let down by the poor eating experience. This has all changed. The Sunday roast was excellent and the service was superb. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back:-)

Nice decor and lots of cricket memorabilia. Food excellent and staff all pleasant. Quick service. Well done all staff and chef. My fish was delicious.

Lovely meal on the tables behind the pub with amazing views over the countryside. Great history as the birthplace of cricket! Good selection on the menu and a kids menu ... although the chips weren't great (I'm just not a fan of double / triple cooked chips - seem like re-cooked leftovers), but not enough to lose a star! Also amazing atmosphere inside the pub with all the cricket memorabilia. Would thoroughly recommend.
